Did you enter him on the CPP site? If the blood was received it will be marked there. They do not send any notice that it was received. But interesting that the ck was not cashed yet… could be that it has not been recorded yet since you did send on a Thursday to arrive on Friday... and Monday was a holiday

@etzbseder: While I've got people looking at this, my B also has a minor umbilical hernia, I was wondering, how big of an issue is it, and should I get him fixed. Do the potential problems get overweighed by the benefits? That is usually not a big deal. The majority of Basenjis are born with umbilical hernias. Should you get him fixed? As in neutered? Yes. Should you get the hernia fixed? They could do it when they neuter him if it bothers you…but it isn't a health concern unless it is quite big.

I agree Robyn, there is lots of mis information about Basenjis on some site out there but there are also sites that have the correct information. On think too is that many people will "read" only what they want to hear… but I am glad that she at least call to talk to someone that has them and also made that visit. When I get inquiries I always tell people, Please visit in person with Basenjis.....

You an also try putting some ointment on their paws to help heal & avoid any further scrapes. I use Mushers Secret..it's good all year around.

I just use cotton cosmetic pads,LOL. I use them, dampened with BioCare ear cleaner, to clean the ears and dampened with water to clean the teeth. Neither dog minds the pads on their teeth and gums, and I use a good bit of pressure, but I wonder how clean they're getting….

@tanza: And also important that he is drinking normal amounts of water Good point….

I have never had a problem with boys after being neutered… but since it has only been a week and 1/2 could be that he is still healing.... But again, I have never had that problem. If it continues I would certainly talk to your Vet..,

@Quercus: I don't know if this is at all accurate…but his theory made sense to me. Also, some Bs are prone to crystal formation, but often don't develop a full blown UTI. There is something that some folks add to the water to change the PH of the urine, but I don't remember what...maybe someone else can help me out with that. I was told that crystals were a sign and led to kidney stones?–not necessarily a sign of UTIs? There were special dog foods for this--to keep crystals from forming because I had to use one at one time (this was about 10-12 years ago), but my vet told me that the good quality dog foods now are formulated to avoid crystal formation, so you don't usually have to get special food.

Glad that you pointed that out and yes, sometimes UTI's are really hard to catch… so you are right, learning the symptoms for your dog is the key....

I don't know if you can order this because we get it wholesale, but you can try: www.interlinksupply.com If you can't get this product or don't want to wait for it to be shipped try 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts water. I'd probably try this first… might save you some money! Good luck.
