    Remember the "for the last time there is no secret exit from the bathroom" thing? It got me to thinking, if I could only just get IN the bathroom by myself it would be a major accomplishment. So, I've decided to invent a remote control for my doorbell. This is how it will work: Push the button. Doorbell rings. Dog runs to the door. Mom runs to the bathroom. Dog needs Mom to open door for visitor but Mom needs more time in the BR. Push the button again…..

    LOL… funny story about bathrooms and Basenjis... our bathroom downstairs has the laundry room off it. In there is one of the two doggy doors we have in the house. Image your guests surprise when they go in, shut the door and "surprise" here comes all the Basenjis through the doggy door!

    You can get a battery operated door bell. It's just 2 pieces: the button and the sensor that rings, and there are no wires. We just got one for the restaurant where I work. I think my boss bought it at Sam's Club. I wish I would have thought to use it that way!

    We have a battery operated doorbell that we use for training calm behavior at the door, and desensitizing to the doorbell.
    It was less than $10 at Home Depot. You can put the "chime" part anywhere, and carry the button around with you.

    Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

    Ah ok cool thanks, I had something like that when Safi was smaller and it was the most successful for sure. She outgrew it quite quickly though

    I can't listen to that, it would wake my girl up and well... I'm not into a "sing along" just now. ;) I will say that many canines howl and yodel and bay (at the moon, whenever a fire truck passes, etc.). I'm not certain that any one breed is distinctive enough to have a sound all their own, but many a proud owner would probably assert so.

    We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole.     My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.
