Basenji Meetups & Events

We have a lot more time now that they are done showing. We do the fun stuff in the Nov-April time frame when its cool enough to race and course. If I'm lucky we get a weekend off every 6 weeks during that time frame. In the summer we stay home and train for indoor sports like rally, barn hunt and agility.

i would love to see the nosework. they have such anexcellent sense of smell. my old dog sniffed a baby bunny totally hidden under a bush from 5 feet away. He went right under the bush and I heard a loud squeek! i had no idea what he was doing at the time, he killed the bunny fortunately / unfortunately.

Hmm, I'm not sure. Most of my pupple people network, but I can ask them. I know one couple did kennel their dog for a few days and they live right near the international center.

I tried to start a topic but it didn't go through. Anyone in louisiana with a Basenji?

Over the weekend we competed in the Iron Dog ASFA trial with forum member Kirsten and Ariel. Our girls did excellent, both picked up their last placement. Sat tempest earned BOB, and Sun Ariel won the stake, we left for home before breed runoffs so did not hear I she or Searaha took BOB. Trog enjoyed running with his family as Susan and karen came to the trial Sat with the entire Apu paw pack. Great entry of 12 that day.

I am pretty close to Turnersville, but I am in Philly, also drive to the shore in south jersey frequently. Would love to see my 10 month old running around with other basenjis. Let me know if you are ever interested in meeting up.

Hi, Yes we have a 10 month old basenji in the South Philly area. Would love to see him running around with another basenji, but have yet to see one in the local dog parks. How old is your boy?

I adopted a Basenji Female (estimated 5yrs old) 6 months ago from the animal shelter. She is wonderful and crazy at the same time..LOL Would be great to get together with other Basenji's.- she's really good with people but a little shy (pretends to be aggressive but mainly just barks/ yodels) at other dogs. i'm near downtown. But i am game for driving out a bit if i can find some Basenji friends for my pup.

No I do not as I am in OH. I just monitor Craigslist when I have time and post the ads. I did not notice the ear tip missing. In cold weather climates, if a dog is outside in the cold, the ears can get messed up. We took in a rescue years ago that had this problem as it was somewhat neglected and left outside too long in the cold in OH. It seems like we used to have much colder winters back then. Jennifer

True but I've spent alot since Mr. Q's arrival (just dropped $9,000 last night finalizing the fence so I can remove the ugly temporary) so I am going to be a bit more budget minded for the rest of the year.
