@DebraDownSouth: Go look at your dog. SLOWLY blink your eyes, do a slow yawn, slowly blink again. You'd be amazed how many will respond with a yawn! Exactly, that a great example!

Hello, you are a great person to try her with all her problems. Do not use leash, maybe you can find a good halter? That way she will trust you more because it is different feeling.

I'm afraid If I do decide to get another I won't have a chance to introduce them beforehand as it Will probably be a puppy I bring from the US.. I doubt there will be a problem since she will be a young puppy…

Thanks Kathy, I figured the companies register the vets or shelter that buys them. But I have heard many say the number didn't show anything when scanned and they contacted the company, so obviously some companies don't input unless you individually register, which is a shame.

Here is an excellent tutorial of using the Premack principle to address a similar issue with "fence fighting". Fence fighting was reinforcing for the dog in the video so if running around with the train is a positive experience for Milosh you can use this approach as well…particularly if running around with the train is a bigger reward for him than a treat or a flirt pole. You can use the same approach to build focus in other highly distracting situations as well. If you practice reorienting and checking in a lot when the train is not around it will help. You would probably need to keep him on a check cord like Debra said and combine that with the train schedule. http://www.canisfilmfestival.com/11_final_12.html As a side note, Premack is used a lot in Control Unleashed training approaches.

ROFLMAO, okay Patty you are right. They are not fool proof. They are "it gives you enough time to notice and stop their evil snakey head chewing" leashes. I made mine. I went to home depot, got the connectors and 12 to 18 inch thin chains and put them on. The brat coordinator here was the one who told me what to do. Before that, I had a BAG full of chewed leashes sewn back together that I took with me to do home visits and show potential owners the dangers, lol.

I had one B girl who would stand next to the kitchen table and the next second go straight up and onto the table, If there was something there she wanted up she would go, no amount of training would keep her off, so no food on the table unless people were sitting there to guard it!

What a clever idea - when the grandson is back, I'm sure they will be wonderful bed buddies. A perfect resting place for a boy and his Benny.

There is no harm in him licking the other dogs urine. To us it might seem awful but it's a way of checking up on the other dog. My males check the bitches pee all the time while they are in season.

An intact pair is doable, but if you have a male who is really wanting to be with the female when she is on heat, better prepare your neighbours for some sleepless nights. Some can howl for hours… Besides that, it's just watching them all the time when they are together so no 'accidents' will happen. Getting a dog only to keep your other dog company is what I allways advice against. I've had 2-3-4 dogs together the last years, and from time to time I set up a webcam when I leave home so I can see what they do. I close the door behind me, they jump on the couch or in a basket and they sleep till I get home again. Never seen them play together while I was away. If it is only to keep him some company, why not a cat instead of another dog? Much easier and see cat-dog plays far more over here then dog-dog plays. A better reason to get a another dog, is that you want another dog. With 2 dogs, you also need to train them separate, walk them separate... to keep the bonding between you and the dogs stronger, then the bond between the 2 of them.

@DebraDownSouth: By original, do you mean the breeders or are they the ones who turned her over to rescue? Glad she is in a loving home! Debra, it is Lolly's original owner who was concerned for her, for some reason she had to give her up, the second owner put her with the dogs trust instead of giving her back. Lolly came originaly from a petshop  I have now on request from Lolly's new owner been able to put them in touch with each other so that information can be shared. Lolly seems as if she's got a super new home.

Hello All! Well were in day 6 of her 1st season and things are going really well with the doggie diapers (to my surprise), she wears them without problem…I think perhaps the actual ones designed for dogs may work slightly better or she just doesn't mind. They may have a different shape to them that helps them stay on, the tail hole is in a perfect spot. She is very tired and quite loving. Her "girl parts" got quite big over the past few days and nipples have doubled in size (hope they go back down). Me and my GF can't wait for this to be over! Scarlett was born in September so I guess her mom (Therese and Kevin's Karma...dad was Sober) had to have a similar cycle. Been busy but will try to post Scarlett diaper pics soon!

Its been two months which is not really a lot of time. I will add that there were some other issues and we have been sucessfull at correcting those. A great suggestion on them meeting outside in the morning. Definately worth a shot and I have some ideas already. Thanks!
