@khanis: Pat…....... that line means that if your puppy is out of two fanconi clear parents, it doesn't need to be tested to find out whether or not it will ever get Fanconi... I should have been more clear, as of course we know that I am aware of what should/should not require testing. I have another one as well…. having bred and lived with Fanconi Affecteds, I have had my eyes opened far wider than ever imagined to this disastrous disease! Kathy, I think that many of us have had our eyes opened really far wide… not only about Fanconi but about the practice of some breeders that many would consider "responsible"..... Sad as that is.... Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I went out and got him some herring and sweet potato food instead of the lamb and rice, and the girl that helped me is actually a vet tech (or she's studying to be one… I can't remember). Either way, she had lots of good info for me too, so between all of these suggestions and hers, hopefully Rami will be feeling better soon! We've actually gotten quite a few barroos from him, and he's been much more playful the past couple of days, and he didn't do either of those even before all of this, so hopefully that means he's doing better!

To make sure, 1st be sure that your test strips are current and valid… then also I would recommend that you test 4 or 5 days in a row and maybe 2x's a day just to be sure. Could also be UTI, but urine culture would be needed to validate that... I would be concerned about "peeing" great quantity .... and think that maybe a trip to the Vet is in order

As long as his CPP registration got entered before they received the blood sample, you'll hear eventually. If there was a delay in the registration, the blood results won't be posted and you'll have to call Liz.

@yag113: Exactly how I feel. Fortunately I love my vets, it's a husband and wife and they have come to know how I am and always work with me. I have 2 goats and the husband does farm calls. I feel very lucky. I always take the staff chocolates and snacks just in case I feel the need to get obnoxious about something…they will placate me! Thanks again for the input. I adore my dog and it's very cool to talk to people who love basenjis! Sounds like a great Vet practice!!! Let us know how the spay goes, I am sure she will do great!

Dr Johnson may still request blood for some research projects, but in many cases, the FTA paper will satisfy that requirement. The new procedure will also allow you to check the status of your test request online with use of a conformation code that will be emailed to you when the order is placed. You can now order a test on the internet and pay by credit card. The price the kit and test will be $65 to cover the cost of the kit and mailing. The test can be ordered from one of two websites: 1- The The Canine Phenome Project website From the dogs profile page in this site, click Fanconi Test. This will link you directly to the OFA site to order the test kit. 2- The OFA site. Mine have always recovered really quick I flush the bite wound if it´s a deeper one with saline or klorhexidine using a syringe twice a day if necessary.Sometimes i´ve put on an aloevera ointment or a special scar preventing cream when scab has been formed.

We layer for cold. A Fido fleece with a horse blanket type coat over top. This seems to keep them quite toasty.

Yes Saba congrats on the problem solved! If I were you, I would discuss the anesthetics with the vet before something happens. You could be faced with an emergency and not get a chance to later.

Oh, no! Poor El D! Yes, I was just thinking the same thing - we have way too many sick basenjis the last couple of weeks. Good thoughts for all the pups and their pets.
