RE: Vanda's babies are here :-)…
Thanks guys…
Tried to get some pics up of them, but Im completely useless with technology, so will need Mr Saba to help me !!!
They are now 9 days old, and all are thriving. Vanda is a wonderful attentive Mum, and Im over the moon with how she is doing. The little boy is doing well, and all have well and truely doubled their weights.
This is the second litter, (the other is the ACD litter I had last year), that I have fed adult food all through the bitches pregnancy. Previously I have always put my girls straight onto puppy food from the day they are mated. Both this litter and the ACD one, the pups have doubled their weight, within 4-7 days. When I have been feeding the puppy food to the bitches, the pups usually doubled their weight by about days 10-12, and I was happy with that, (and they always dropped weight for the first day or so). Mmmmm is there something in that !!!

Vanda's babies are here :-)…
Just want to let everyone know that Vanda has had her babies on 10th June :-)…
She, (Ch Wazazi Living Doll), has had 3 red/white girls, 1 tri girl and a lonesome red/white boy !!! All are doing well and Vanda has settled into motherhood very well...
The boy was last born, came out well, no issues, until I was just about to close an eye, (at about 6.30am after no sleep !!!), and I noticed he wasnt looking good, flat, very dehydrated etc... I didnt have many things organised, (only got the whelping box set up late the evening before she whelped), but thats a long story !!! I suddenly remembered that I had read numerous times on an Australian dog forum, (that Im a member on), that people had sworn by 'liver juice'. Thankfully I had bought some lamb's liver, (supposed to use beef, but I couldnt get any that morning), and it was in the freezer. I cut about half a handful of it, covered the bottom of a small saucepan with water and boiled it for a few minutes. I then let it cool, and put about 2-3 drops on his tongue, and after about 30-45 seconds, he started to move a little, gave him another 3-4 drops, and he really started to squirm, so I put him on Mum, bingo, started to suck furiously :-)...
Now, I dont know if the 'liver juice' really did work or not. Maybe he was a little stronger than I thought, maybe he was just tired ??? I dont know. BUT, I do know he was really dehydrated, and although I do put them straight onto Mum, I dont know if he got a drink... So many questions, but, I think the 'liver juice' did something, and I now have a strong and healthy boy :-)... We made sure he was put on Mum heaps the day he was born, even pulling other stronger pups off the free flowing teats, so he could get on. He still lost weight on the 1st day's weigh in, but the last 2 days he has put on as much as the others now... Im happy :-)...
Ok so this has ended up a long, useless information story, but just wanted to share my 'liver juice' story in-case it helps anyone else :-)...
Forgot to say we will be keeping the pick bitch, and while I might regret it, Im hoping the tri-ing will be the one !!! Mmmmm the little boy just might not be able to find a home either !!!

RE: Ceaser Birth & Mommy's reaction to her new off-spring
Patty I think your are/were spot on…
Vanda had her beautiful babies in the early hours of Sat, (10th June), with very little issues !!! She had 3 red/white girls, 1 tri girl and 1 red/white boy :-)...
I will put more in the breeders section...

RE: Ceaser Birth & Mommy's reaction to her new off-spring
Im glad Mum seems to have settled into motherhood a little better Krissteyn…
I can only hope Vanda is going to be ok... I am with them and sleep next to the whelping box, for the first 3 weeks or so, so she will be well supervised... X-ray on Fri to count the little darlings, and so I know when to panic in the middle of the night, when things might start to go wrong !!!
Thanks for the info Ivoss, something to mull over after this litter is off to their new homes, and when I feel like breeding again, when Im more hoooooman !!!

RE: Ceaser Birth & Mommy's reaction to her new off-spring
This thread has me a little worried…
I have a bitch due around 13-15th June, and she too isnt very fond of babies... She has in the past growled at them, when they have been 'in her face', nothing more just a warning growl. At shows I have to be careful not to let the babies get in her face, (she doesnt like any rude dog in her face, shes just more intolerant of babies). In saying that, when Ochre had her 6 babies 2 years ago, I encouraged Vanda to play with them, when they were old enough, and I was really pleased with her behaviour. At first she hid on the chair, and growled when they jumped up to say hello, but that quickly stopped and she slowly began to play with them.
I did wonder if I should breed her, and after much soul-searching, I decided to go ahead with this mating. I just hope we dont need a C.S. Thanks for the explanation of the hormones Ivoss... Would you breed the mother of the singleton litter again ???

RE: Food recall
Ive just put one of my guys on TOTW, and just bought a bag yesterday. Thankfully this bag appears to not be affected, BUT…
I have 4 sample packs, one of which is open and has been fed to the dog... I cant find a Production Code box on any of the sample packs ??? Should I just chuck them out, or does anyone know how I can check to see if these are contaminated ???
ETA Im in Australia, and have heard nothing about this recall, until I came here today...

RE: Our Wonderful St Paddy's day show…
Thank you for the well wishes… Still happily floating around on Cloud Nine, although I've had 1 or 2 crashes back to earth !!!
Now if Vanda would just come into season, and NOT copy what her mother is doing, (in/out, in/out), I would be very happy :-)...

Our Wonderful St Paddy's day show…
I just wanted to have a small brag…
Our 2 girls did us very proud, (both 2 and 4 legged :-)...), at the St Patricks Day Show we attended, last Saturday...
Imogen, (14yrs), showed Ch Wazazi Living Doll, Vanda, to BOB, and BIG 2nd, (Runner-up Best In the Hound Group), and best Intermediate in Group, (dogs/bitches aged 18-36 months)... Olivia,(16yrs), showed Ch Wazazi High Expectations, Ochre to RUBOB and best Open in Group, (dogs/bitches older than 6 months)... My daughters showed the dogs beautifully and I was a very proud and happy strapper !!!!!!!!!!!
Then we went in for Best Intermediate in Show, against the dogs from the other 6 groups, who had won their best intermediate in groups as well, and....................................................................................................... Vanda was awarded BEST INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW... She beat, MBIS, SBIS, and Grand Champions, to win this award...
VERY, VERY happy with that days results... Spoke to the judge who awarded Vanda R-Up in Group, and she said that IF Vanda had have moved around the ring on her last workout, without breaking her gait, she would have been BIG... Vanda is a little minx, and without fail, she will always break in her workout. Its something we have tried to get her out of, but no matter what we have tried, she will always do it... Its her funny little quirk, and while Best In Group, would have been wonderful, Im still floating on Cloud Nine, with the whole day...
Should mention that with the Cattle Dogs, our beautiful leased girl Crystal was Challenge bitch, (best bitch), for a further 8 points towards her Aus Ch title, then onto RUBOB... Her gorgeous daughter, Melba, who we bred, was awarded Res Ch bitch, (2nd best bitch), beating an older champion bitch... Very happy for Mr Saba who showed these 2 girlies... Our young, very gangly, 'nothing fits anywhere', young boy, Cobber, then beat his sister, Melba, for best puppy of breed...

RE: Fading fur colouring
Thanks for that info YodelMa…
Just had a look at the Fish Oil that I have been using and it appears that it is Fish Oil, with Omega 3. It is human grade...
Ingredients are Fish Oil 1000mg, providing Omega-3 Marine Triglycerides 300mg as EPA 180mg and DHA 120mg... Do you think thats enough of the EPA and DHA ??? There is nothing at all mentioned about the Vit A, so Im presuming that it has been taken out of these capsules ???
The Livermol is not just an equine product, its advertised for use in horses, foals, cattle, calves, sheep, lambs, goats, kids, poultry, pigs, dogs, llamas, alpacas and camels... They are only getting a teaspoon every secong day...

RE: Furminator
I just replied to another thread about my young boy with his shockingly hideous dry, dead coat… I have just been using the Furminator on him for about 3 or so weeks, and while it hasnt improved his coat colour, I have been truely stunned by the amount of under coat Ive gotten out of him just from the Furminator... We have had a very short summer this year, and until fairly recently they B's have had their coats on when they are outside and at night... I think he is having a huge shed now as the temp's have warmed up a little. I have a litre container that I have been putting in dead coat in, and I just loosely chuck it into the container, and it would be 3/4 filled with Java's undercoat !!!

RE: Fading fur colouring
Hi Flash,
Interesting that you have brought this up, as I am having the same issues with one of mine… Havent been on the Forum for a while, so thats why Im late answering...
My are all entire, 2 boys and 2 girls. All red. My older bitch has had 1 litter of 6, (all the other pups in this litter, except the one I have, have wonderful red coats), she has a wonderful rich red coat, and apart from one time about 4-6 months ago, she has retained this wonderful coat. My other bitch hasnt had a litter, and apart from the coat issue 4-6 months ago, she too is fine. My oldest male, has a rather longish coat and does have a thick winter coat, which Im just about to finish getting rid of !!!
Now my problem coated boy, is a son of the first bitch mentioned, (his sire also has a lovely rich red coat), and his is exactly as you described... He looks horrible. Mine are all on Fish Oil capsules and Vit E, (which should be taken if you feed Fish Oil, so the body is able to correctly used by the body), and have been for years, fed sardines about once a week, as well as other interesting bits added to their diet, and so far NOTHING is improving his revolting coat... I even tried using the furminator, (which we have for the Australian Cattle Dogs we have), and I was able to get some of the dead, crappy, yucky 'undercoat' out, but at this time there is no change to the colour of his top-coat... Arggggggggh so frustrating. I have just started all 4 of them on some Livermol, which is a horse product that apparently supposed to encourage/enhance coat colour. I have only just started this so still too early to know if its going to work ??? I was also recommended using Seaweed Meal, (Kelp), but as this is quite high in iodine, (and Basenjis have issues with thyroids), Im not using it just yet till Ive done more research on it...
Anyway just wanted to add my 2 cents worth... Im glad the Fish Oil worked for you :-)...

Just Want to Clarify ???
Hi guys,
Been away from the B Forum for ages, (soooooo busy), and just starting to get Vanda's health testing started, for her next year's breeding, (fingers crossed !!!), and I was wondering if I could just clarify a few things, about Fanconi testing from those in the know !!! Im time poor at the moment, so dont have time to find the info myself, sorry to be a pain :-)…
Ive added her to the Canine Phenome Project, (which I think I did before I got Ochre and Saba Fanconi tested), is this still necessary ???
Do I order the Fanconi Testing kits through OFA now ??? Pay first, then get them sent out ??? Do I need to get it done by the Vet, or at home by myself ???
Sorry to be a pain, I know the info is through here, just so lacking in time to do the research myself :-(...

RE: A Question About Yodels
Im in Australia, and can speak of my lines only…
I have 5 B's here at the moment... Oldest boy, a Wazazi dog, will quite happily do that single bark that DDS mentions. Visitors, cars in the drive etc, etc, will set him off... No yodels from him at all, ever... Next bitch, (Wazazi again), no barks or yodels... Next bitch, (another Wazazi, 1/2 sister to the previous bitch), no barks or yodels, either. Next 2 boys, both brothers from the first bitch to a very talkative, HUGE yodeller... Nope they are also completely quiet, no barks, yodels, nuffing... All mine are incredibly broken, and I reckon I need a refund :)..

RE: Hi everyone..been awhile
Nah, she is broken Lysh…
Methinks you need to take her back and get a replacement :p...

Norwegian Exhibitors…
I was just wondering if any Norwegian exhibitors, (or other Europeans), could private message me with info on a judge who we are having for our Royal Launceston Show this weekend… FB is telling us some strange stories, so just interested in how much truth there is in the 'rumours'... Her name is Mrs Marit Sunde...

RE: ACD Puppies for me…
These little fatties are doing sooooooo well. Im used to ACD babies losing weight in the first couple of days, then gaining, doubling their weight around day 10ish…
Not with these guys, no weight loss, all have doubled their weight by day 6 ...
Mumma Crystal doesnt even look like she has a lot of milk at all, clearly what she does have is pretty damn good though !!!
Its interesting that for this litter I didnt feed Crystal puppy food at all during her pregnancy, as I have done for all my previous litters, and the pups were good weights at birth, and are now gaining so well ;)... Certainly food for thought, (pardon the pun :D)...
