Thank You :) I purchase Guru from Devils Peak Basenjis in Salem Oregon. He is 14 weeks old.

Here is a photo I was sent of him:

I cant wait to play with him. Isn't he adorable

  • oh my gosh, he IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! you'll have to post many more pics, as he grows! congrats!

  • What a doll! You will find alot of great information here.

  • How cute!!! :D

  • I bet you can't wait….....good luck to you and congrats!

Welcome to the forum, enjoy and keep the pics coming.:)

  • OMG! He is adorable! Congratulations. and welcome..you can really learn a lot from this forum. Have fun with him…he is a real cutie.

  • So sweet! One of the great attributes about the basenji breed is that they never really lose that angelic face, no matter what they have managed to get themselves into. I think it has to do with their ability to wrinkle their expressive brow. You know they have chewed up a mechanical pencil or found the lint from the dryer when they purposefully seek you out to lick your face. Watch out for that Guru. He is going to be a heart breaker!
    Best wishes,

@elbrant That's how all my 8-some learned to catch. If food dropped on the floor - you lost it ! So they all stood on their hind legs and it was like feeding a nest of fledgling sparrows. A gentle toss of the treat and someone caught it !

Delighted that Kane is finally on the mend - you will see his weight gain in leaps and bounds now he no longer has those unwelcome little visitors. Keep a close eye on him though and get back to the vet at the first sign of any more troubles. good luck to you both !

Looks like you will have your hands full! The video made me chuckle, especially how quickly it happened and how the pup looked excited to make it to the sofa!

Most people incorrectly use the terms dominant and dominance with regard to dogs. Here is a good blog post by Dr. Sophia Yin on the topic. http://drsophiayin.com/blog/entry/dominance_in_dogs_is_not_a_personality_trait

I was struck by the fact that your Bernese lived to be 20 years old! Wow! I know they have had concerns with cancer in the breed, and very few of them live that long. How wonderful for you that you got to have her for that long. Terry

Hi Anne - Thanks for checking in on us. Kona is settling in perfectly. She is so sweet and only causes trouble a couple times a day - mainly when my husband isn't home :) She traveled with us to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando over the Thanksgiving weekend and handled it all very well. She even played beautifully with my nieces and nephew. We are so lucky to have found her and she is the perfect fit for us! We look forward to coming and meeting the other Tampa Basenjis. I am hoping to come to the park after the holidays once Kona is completely caught up on her shots - she goes for round 2 tonight. I will post some more pictures soon too! Lisa
