Tillo and his new girlfriend

Show Off Your Dog
  • We have a guest at home for the next few months, it's Schouiffy's puppy Lycia. Such a pretty and sweet girl :) Tillo still has to get the whole 'sharing-thing', but I think they will work it out ;)

Here some pics of this morning. We were supposed to go to a show.. but we thought it was maybe better to give them some space, so we went to the dog forrest instead.

Lycia and a four month old puppy :D

    Tillo is bored

The only pic of them together ;)

    Pretty Lycia

    Boys and their sticks..

Tillo thinks he's tough (believe me.. there was a lot of noise involved..)

Lycia thinks the boys are acting childish

  • Great pictures. I know Lycia will have a good time with y'all while her mom is waiting for her. I hope her transition will be smooth and that Tillo will enjoy having a girlfriend..

  • Great pics:D Lycia looks sooo like her dad:D

  • Lycia looks like she's having a lot of fun. Great of you to take her in! I will be meeting up with Miss Schouiffy next week. Her parents live a mile from my house and they have her other Basenji.

  • Those are great pictures the pups are beautiful.

  • What great pics. It is so great that you were able to take in Lycia so she didn't have travel so much while she waits for her pet passport. It will also give you the chance to experience a two basenji household.

  • For sure, great shots… and how wonderful for it all to come together and be able to do this...

  • =) yep yep!! long live the forums!!!!!!!!!!

We had a really spectacular weekend, Janneke and Job were amazing hosts and I know Lycia and Tilo are gonna have some special months together. It helps with the separation knowing she will be well loved =)

Here, here! Wonderful pictures…lovely of you to do this!

  • Basenjis they look like they will do fine, I want another every time I see people with 2 Bs. I just have to do it before Sahara gets to old, anyways they are just gorgeous.

2 Bs are a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun with my previous 2.

  • I want two one day as well…ah dreams..

  • Great pictures - Its good to know she has a great temporary home. Cant wait to see Lycia when she gets over to Scotland.

  • Lovely pics, she looks like she is enjoying herself, you will definitely want another one when she goes home. Tillo will miss her!

I hope we see her when she is here.

  • Nice pics Janneke!!!!

    She is a lovely girl!!!

I'm sure Lycia and Tillo will have a great time and the time will fly by for her. Can't wait to see her on Saturday:D

  • Wow, Tillo is happy man ( boy?) :) to have such a pretty young lady at home for a time. Should think about basenji girl addition, Janneke, I can see it in Tillo s eyes:)

  • Thanks for all the nice comments! :) We're happy we're able to help Lauren and Lycia. And of course this is also great for us, because now we can experience how it is to have two B's :D If it's a success.. we will have to look for a new sis for Tillo ;)

Both pups are doing great! Last night Tillo slept on my side of the bed on the ground and Lycia slept on Job's side. (also on the ground.. after jumping on the bed 3 times ;)) I think she went to visit Tillo in the middle of the night because I heard a big growl.. gg.. soon enough she was back on Job's side :D This morning they shared the bed in the guest room. (Both on the complete other side of the bed of course ;))

We just had a nice two hour walk. At the beginning Tillo was looking at me like… "does she really need to come with us?!?" But soon enough he was ok with her walking next to him and sniffing the same things as he did.

Tillo has even tried to lay next to her.. haha.. but she walks away after a few minutes.. ggg.. too cute.. :D She returns to her spot as soon as he leaves.. :D It looks like she feels right at home, not nervous or anything like that :)

I do have to separate them when I feed them, but when I have removed everything that has something to do with food, they are fine. This morning Lycia decided to throw up her food and Tillo ate it before it could fall on the ground.. sigh.. He's a food addict.. I'm glad there was no fight about it :)

I'm sure we'll post lots of pics of the two of them together :D

  • Great pictures of Lycia and Tillo.

    Hey there !
Happy to hear that everything went perfectly last weekend !
As promised, I was in "stand-by" just in case there were problems.;)
I'm convinced Lycia will have a great time with her new friend and wonderfull Janneke and Job; in a few weeks we have a great show with the Basenji Club of the Netherlands so Lycia can meet Bendji too !

He can run off-leash allmost everywhere here. Most days I don't need his leash at all. Only have to watch for foxes. He really hates those and will go after them untill he gets them. Good thing is he has an excellent recall. And he is allways watching me, wont go further away from me then 50 meters. So walking him isn't a problem at all (as long as no foxes cross our path that is…).

Otis, or should I saw my Dachshund Gus, thinks stuffing is unnatural…the animals should be sold without them, and squikers (SP?) too. Both of them love the animals once they are limp, unstuffed, just the stuffed animal skin...that is when they are the best..In Otis' and Gus' humble opinion..

@weeziesmom: I have tried chew bones to curb his chewing however he tries to take weezies and they fight over them You can teach him to leave hers alone. Make them both sit for their chew; give hers first and make him stay with you when she dashes off to chew. {helps him see that she gets one/he gets one, and also gives her a head start!} Make sure he knows you have one for him also. He must sit and make eye contact with you before he is given his treat. Once they both have a chew, make them stay in different spots. Stand between them, moving your body silently to block his attempts to get to her. If necessary, tell him "no" or "leave it". It shouldn't take long for him to learn that he gets his and she gets hers. Eventually, he will just look when you hand her the treat and will sit and stare at your face until he gets his own, then he'll run to his own spot to chew his bone.
