Today was fun!

We had an outdoor show today and it was great fun! Tillo did.. ok.. He was second in youth class with an excellent. He got a nice judge report, but made me work for it.. He was whining and sat on the table while being judged.. sigh.. he even 'growled' a bit when the judge was touching his male parts.. I just smiled and told him how good he was with an extra loud voice and had my hand so he couldn't move his head.. Don't think the judge noticed anything..

So.. why was today fun..? Haha.. just because the weather was GREAT! There were 10 basenji's, which is A LOT! I made lots of pics (almost 700..) of a lot of different breeds.. I met some great people! Even the coordinator of the lure coursing training I had emailed before.. I made some pics of his dogs and he told me about lure coursing etc. I asked some questions and told him I was going to train with my B.. He said: who are you then.. I told my name.. he said: well, nice too meet you then, I spoke to you via the mail!! What a coincidence! Now I'm even more looking forward to the training!

Also: Tillo and the other male in his class (who became BOB, yeay! I'll add some pics of course, he looks really nice :)) are for some reason best friends and just love eachother.. so sweet to see them play together..

Yes.. today was fun..

Before I forget, Tillo's judge report:

16 months. Very nice breed image. Noble male head, good in proportion with a nice ear, eye and a good bite. Slender neck. Back has to become a little tighter. Tail is a bit open. Very nice coat. Very good angulations on both ends. Fluent and free movement, that's a bit loose in front. Very nice wrinkles.

Funny you mention.. I was first planning to say I didn't agree with the judge.. haha.. but I thought.. no.. don't say it..

Well, here it is: I don't agree with the judge His back is solid.. all judges say it is.. but maybe because he sat down on the table and was a bit 'don't feel like it'.. he pushed his back away when she touch it? He does that sometime, like when the leash touches his back and he wants it to go away.. don't know…

And his tail.. well.. I think it's ok..

I just love his eye shape and color… one thing I have notice here in the US is way to many Basenjis are getting a rounder eye instead of almond shaped...

And my only comment about his tail would be that it sits a bit low, could be set higher, But I don't get the "open".... comment.

And I think his top lines looks great... but if the comment about him being a bit loose in front moving... maybe she thinks that gives him a softer top line also?..

And yes, Tillo is my first 'show dog'. I'm really not that relaxed and of course only post the pictures in which I look very professional :p

You're definitely right about his tail.. It should be set higher.. about the open.. maybe she wants a double curl? and next time the judge writes something I don't understand.. I will ask her personally... haha..
I don't think it has anything to do with his movement, because the judge reports are always written in the same order as her judging: On table: age, head, teeth, body. Then the movement. You have to stack you're dog after doing all this in front of her and she tells her writer what she thinks..

As I look at the picture of "Mr. BOB" I get the impression the judges are going for the more muscular type or am I wrong ? This of course would be great news for us as Bendji is quite firmly build.:D

I remember meeting his litter sister at Hannover Garbsen so you would have seen her too she was in Belle's class. He looks a nice dog and has had some nice wins.

Not 'the judges' of course, but this judge and not more muscular.. If there's one pup muscular… then it's mine :p
And don't mistake muscular with Bendji's firm body :p :p Haha.. just kidding of course :p (has he lost some weight already?)

Chandu is very elegant looking, high on his legs compared to the other. I will upload pics of the other basenji's in about half an hour.. there are also a couple of Aboteres.

Yes, his sister won that class, didn't she? I believe the whole litter looks very nice.

Ah yes… not good for you of course.. But Belle had a nice second place. I spoke to the judge afterwards and she told me she really liked the female puppies. (opposed to the male puppies :p :()

Yes she said that she enjoyed the bitch puppy class and it was a hard decision between Belle and the other girl, she actually has a write up about the show on her website.

And no, I have put him on a daily 400 kcal diet but he remains on the heavy side … Maybe due to the lack of running opportunities he has were we live. But I arranged with Alain to visit the doggy yard 3 times a week instead of only once a week... this will help him burn the puppy fat more easily I hope. :rolleyes: He has to be in top shape by the end of this month for he will be performing on his first show !!!:eek:
