Thank you all for the info! I’ll definitely try to get in contact with the breeders listed to see what they have planned for the upcoming winter/in the future.
Experiencing Anxiety Separation from my Basenji girl
-
Hi Marianna,
I’m currently in Djibouti, east Africa, where we rescued a basenji mix. Her name is alpha. She is beautiful and about 5 months old now. She has all her shots to date and we are going to spay her before we can travel back to the US, hopefully sometime in June.
Let me know if you want to see pictures and where to email them to you. She is close to being a pure breed - very curly tail, large almond eyes and very few stripes on her back. She has beautiful white little “socks” to complete the picture.
Please email me to [private email] to request pictures. Thank you. Valerie

Are you saying - you got a Basenji from a rescue centre 10 years ago, now she is ill you have put her into rescue again and now want a young Basenji ? Surely I'm reading this wrong ! Have you never heard the saying ' a dog is for life, not just for Xmas'.

Obviously not. This is no way to treat an elderly, sick Basenji who has given you love for so many years. I wouldn't let you have another dog - just to dump it when it became inconvenient ?
-
@allanc Yes I read the post twice, I just wasnt sure I was reading it correctly. Confused myself on why a dog would go back because it is having health problems.

@zande
“......... I wouldn't let you have another dog - just to dump it when it became inconvenient ?”OMG!! I completely agree - I wouldn’t allow her to have ANY ANIMAL for that matter! An elderly dog especially needs your love and care at this stage in their lives!!! Some people cease to amaze me - how CRUEL!

Kembe - I am finding it hard to get my head around how anyone could have a Basenji for 6 years (4 until 10, as I recall) and then bin it ! It won't get much love or understanding in a rescue home. But maybe it wasn't loved as it deserved anyway. Poor little mite.
