B's in doggie daycare?

Basenji Talk
  • oh and about the pomeranians…Jackpot hates them too! We have a little black pom who lives a few doors down from us named Tank. Jackpot & Tank DO NOT get along! LOL

  • I had our dog in daycare a bit when he was a pup, so he could have an outlet for all that energy. now that he's a few yrs old, we simply can't afford it. We have a toddler in full time daycare, and around here, doggy daycare costs about the same, so now we pay a neighbor to come over daily and spend some time w/ him.

  • I took Zoe to a kindergarten obedience class and she got bored so she walked around behind me and took all the pages off the bulletin board. The trainer said she was a bad influence on the other students.

  • Satan and lucifer! hahaha thanks for the smile..

  • i named Laika, the little terrorist.. so you can imagine.. lol

ROFLMAO. I had one strip wall paper so maybe Zoe is in training?

I don't want to offend you, but this picture makes my heart stop. It's how my darling puppy Leki died…please. please, don't let the dogs wear their collars when they're playing like this...I hope I haven't offended you, but with the memory of Leki, I had to post this...

  • QuizBasenji I had a bit of a fright at the dog park the other day, a dog was playing with Kaiser and suddenly grabbed him by the collar and started to twist and shake him by it, as I try to keep a close eye on him I was able to step in straight away(the owner was also quick to see) but it could of ended so badly if I hadn't been watching or close by, dog was slighter bigger than him. Haven't had any other dogs do that before so his collar came off while that dog was there and they left soon after as their dog just kept stalking Kaiser. Always take his tags off so he doesn't get caught up but am now going to take his collar off all the time as if it had been a bigger dog I think some damage would have been done, it really scared me as not only can they get caught up on a collar, a dog can also grab your dog by it. Good on you for saying something as we just don't realise how fast things can go wrong.

  • I just don't want anyone to lose a dog like I lost Leki - neurogenic pulmonary oedema can happen with shock, smoke inhalation….all sorts. Let's keep our beloveds safe...

  • I don't keep a collar on Ava unless I'm walking her. Poor Leki's tragic accident is similar to what happened to two Goldens who lived down the street from me. They were in the backyard playing while their owners were away, and the whole block knew immediately that it was awful.

This is an old thread, but there's some good info in it. Doggie daycare has been a lifesaver for me. It gives Ava an outlet for her endless energy and is good for socialization. She is a friendly girl who likes everybody– human, canine and feline. I take turns handing her off to everyone there, and so far, she'll go right to them with a hello lick. I want her to know that people are good and she can trust them. Hopefully, it will always be that way!

I wish they could go everywhere with me but I couldn't imagine trying to get them on a plane. We are going to lake Erie in a couple week for a long weekend and they are coming with us. This campground is very dog friendly, this is the campground's annual halloween party before shutting down for the winter. Everyone is asking us to bring our dogs and of course they will be dressed up in costumes. After that we are taking a week to go to Cancun. Dog's can't go but will staying with a friend that has 1 acre fenced and her 3 dogs and mine were practically raised together. So we call it a sleepover. Everyone plays until exhaused so not a lot of time to get into trouble. I will miss them while I'm gone but know they are in great hands with my friend.

Jayden is super gross when it comes to what he'll eat: poop, vomit, and, if he pees on the patio, he'll lick that. Honest!!! We feed him and we feed him very well! Yucccchhhhh! Pat

The first thing I thought of when looking at those doggie clothes was the scene in the beginning of 101 Dalmations where Pongo is watching the various pairs of dogs and their humans walking along. I was amused by that association. I don't think any of the dogs in that scene had clothes on, but they very well could have - particularly the poodle. If there is such thing as a doggie runway strut she had it down pat.

It is amazing how smart they are, but I worry that not only could the house have burned, but they may have been hurt as well. Anyone of us who has kids knows it can take just a millisecond. (I guess we all have our B kids.) When things are just too quiet, I go hunting too!
