Housing: B friends in the Bay Area?

Off Topic
  • Hello all,

My two Bs and I are moving to the Bay Area (peninsula or San Jose) in June and want to find someone with a spare room to rent. A household with other Bs would be perfect!

If you have friends/associates in that area who might be willing to chat with me about housing, or refer me to someone that they know, please feel free to send them my email address. My intro and photos can be found at http://www.lori-stephens.com/SF.
    Thanks!

  • Lori, I am no where near you - I am in the suburbs of Vancouver, BC, but if I needed a roommate I would take you in immediately. Your bio rocks!

  • I sent your post and bio link to a friend who lives with her long term S.O. in San Francisco, they have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. They are pet-less currently, have had her beloved husky, and several cats. She used to live in Seattle, then SF, then lived in Sequim so you have lived in similar places. She is a physical therapist and teaches classes all over the country, also very outgoing and friendly, articulate, funny.

I have no idea if they are interested in a housemate, but thought I would put it out there for them (Sara & Paul). She has been thinking about getting a basenji, by the way, so would give them a chance to be around them!

  • Sorry Lori, my friend is probably leaving San Fran about the time you will be getting there.

Wow, this lady takes action and is very dedicated to helping! Like she said people are very uneducated and unaware. Some people have very little sensitivity to an animal. Like she said "I have the dog for protection" and it's on some short chain". Thanks Petra for posting this.

@saba: Very sad… Hollywood has a lot to answer for . Funny story here though... Our Australian early morning breakfast show was doing a story on the Chihuahua, (I cant remember what it was about...), and the female anouncer called them Chee hoo-a hoo-a :eek::o:o... Nothing was said, till after the next commercial break when the male presenter, (who looked like he knew she had really fluffed the pronounciation :D), came back on and apologised about the pronounciation of the breed, and it was called, Chihuahua... The naughty cameraman pans across to the female presenter, who was laughing so much, she had tears rolling down her face, and couldnt speak for about 10 minutes :D. I would love to have been in the studio when it had errupted into laughter about the way she had pronounced it :). NICE! I have a little Mexican hairless Chee hoo-a hoo-a! :D

Hi and yes there is a small group of us here in LA. We meet up on Saturday's around 10ish at the Laurel Cyn Dog Park. The park is a good size located on a hill side with lots of tree's and benches. If the weather is nice we average about 5 Basenjis. It would be wonderful if you are able to swing by one day. @LeeL: If you do go back to hardwood. I would recommend staying with Oak. We had oak floors in our last house and have Hickory now and the Oak was much better at resisting denting. You can see a few places after 18 months where the claw marks made a dent in the surface. I never saw that in 5 years of Oak. We have oak and it is standing up beautifully with three dogs {and Gypsy is fairly heavy} and all the kids {who are forever dragging their dining chairs across the floor despite dh's constant harping to 'lift, lift, lift" } The only dent is from where dh dropped the stereo when he was putting the room back together immediately after installing the floor :D I love it. It's tougher than we were told it would be and so easy to clean.

I may take you up on that - if I can't get in where I typically stay and am familiar with. I've stayed in a couple of dives that I'd not care to return too. Seems like even if it's 'high' season - I should be able to risk waiting until I get there to see what the weather is like - I could go down to Fort Myers - I did that once before when it was too rainy and gloomy in Tampa area. I may just get one night somewhere certain and then just decide when I get there. Doesn't bother me much but hubby is a bit less willing to risk it.
