Violated!!!!!

Basenji Talk

  • My friend/neighbour just dropped round to give me a package she signed for for me and to see my kittens (she loves them  ) and naturally Maya, ever the hostess, was leading my friend from room to room, dancing on her back legs, yodelling and leaping on the furniture  So, on her way out my friend picked Maya up for a cuddle as usual - all fine, Maya loves a fuss! But then, she planted a big KISS right on Maya's shnozzle :D Maya is a very cuddly dog but is NOT a kissy dog, she even gets all offended when i give her a kiss  But the look of utter disgust on her face after this unexpected kiss - CLASSIC!!!! lol! It really was an "I was violated!!!" look :D

Naturally it didnt stop her from walking my friend down to her house and, of course, going in to investigate! But it was just hilarious! People say dogs dont have expressions? They obviously havent met Maya :D

  • Too bad you were not able to capture that on a camera!

Animals totally have expressions. With my cats, I get pissed off looks, you are hurting my heart looks, leave me alone looks, oh how I love you looks … you just have to be in tune with noticing the looks. They are usually there in some form.

  • Oh bless her, poor Maya !!!!, how her pride must have been hurt lol !!!

I'm afraid I'm very guilty of planting kisses all over Coopers' face ( I just get the urge !!!! ). He goes all silly and shuts his eyes and pushes his head into mine for more, until that is the OH and anybody catches him doing it, then he pushes away and just stares at me as if to ask what the heck I am doing to him lol !!!!! Nobody else must see what a soppy dog he can be, afterall said and done he is the man of the house lol !!!!

    Don't you love them !

  • Oh, Cooper is so funny! :D

When i give Maya a kiss she just looks as me as though im mad. But, when SHE wants to give ME a kiss im expected to put up with it even though i hate hate hate having my face licked :D lol Sometimes, just because im a bad owner, i will give Maya lots of big, sloppy kisses right on the nose until she flops over and hides her face with her paws! :D I do make a fool of her….lol

  • My Maggii hated to have her feet touched…. At one show, the judge ran her hands down Maggii's leg to her foot.... Maggii picked up her foot and held it in the air, ****ed her head and gave the judge a very "evil" eye..... Judges response with a great big grin was "WELL.... excuse me!!!".... it was very cute and Maggii still got Best of Breed that day!

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

I can't listen to that, it would wake my girl up and well... I'm not into a "sing along" just now. ;) I will say that many canines howl and yodel and bay (at the moon, whenever a fire truck passes, etc.). I'm not certain that any one breed is distinctive enough to have a sound all their own, but many a proud owner would probably assert so.

My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.
