Zest! loves doing this with the malinois! Always has. (although I would NOT use the word "gentle") Word of caution **With our first malinois, Z got her lower jaw caught on the mali's collar - twice. So now nobody has collars on in my house. ** I also know of a couple of different people who lost dogs due to strangulation this way. Very sad.

It is difficult to tell a tri Rat Terrier from a tri Basenji in some of the shelter photos. I have to ask does it have a tail and what type!

The only disappointing thing for me was that the vocalizations certainly appeared to be faked. Too bad they didn't manage to capture actual Basenji vocalizations.

They used Dolphin sounds which is really hilarious, Basenjis sound like dolphins, who knew?

Arwen has the Chow Chow mentality– you threw it? You go get it. She would occasionally get something just to annoy the Rottie, occasionally in the house to stop Cara.

Lisa, how about an article that actually says that Basenji's can bark. We know they cannot continuously bark like other dogs but we do know they can give us one or two good loud barks. We also know besides the Roo and the Brrrr, they can make cat like noises, and several other sounds.

An article called and describing the "Sounds of the Basenji" and/or what each sound might indicate and mean might be interesting.

Charlie D. and I took our 2 adult Bs, our first Bs, to training classes in the 90s. The dogs reluctantly passed but it was suggested that we retake the classes. The stay was the hardest command! One B had a high prey drive and wanted to go after the small white fluffy dogs and the other one was so friendly and had a thing for larger dogs that he would sit in the ring and turn his head around to watch the large dogs in the other ring. Once the teacher had to come up and wave her hand in front of his face to distract him! I think he wanted to be a large dog. He later earned his CGC although was told he was too friendly and both became excellent lure coursers with titles. We never did retake the training classes. I do not think I could take the embarassment!

Good luck on getting a picture when she is still, if she is anything like our 2 she won't be still very muvh. Our Bitty does this thing, when she comes up on the bed at bedtime she will flop down facing directly away from us and then bend her head back mover her shoulder to look at us.

Good old mental stimulation! I always get worried when the get so close…and feel lucky when they get away. Last thing I want is to clean bloody feet and mouths afterwards!!

Absolutely wizard, birds, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, I've even known a few to take on possums and raccoons. Egads! Tough little buggers, aren't they?

Oakley would eat sour smarties or sweet tarts over sweet potatoes or zucchini 100%. I often think it's weird how similar his taste for sour and tart candies resembles mine!! I do however like fruits and vegetables more than him..
