@BasenjiDiva: Ditto! And regarding the horse in the blog about Argus….Didn't it tear you up to read about the owner driving there as fast as she could and them holding the phone up to the horse's ear so she could say good bye!? That still tears me up. And then reading this morning on this board about the loss of Rocky......a big day for tears. After yesterday's losses I was almost afraid to read any more favorite blogs and forums today. :(

@TuckerVA: Yes they are… I did some more research on this and found mugshots of all 8 kids involved. They all look like white trash to me. http://obscurestore.typepad.com/obscure_store_and_reading/2008/04/meet-the-kids-a.html The comments are especially funny.. "Somebody needs to take out the trash…" LOL! This type of stuff has happend far too often. Not too long ago a mother decided to create a bogus myspace account just so she could appear to be a boy having an online relationship with a teenage girl named Megan Meier. Apparently the mother then gave her user name and password to fellow school mates of the young girl so they could "gang up" on her. As a result of the online attacks Megan Meier committed suicide. The parents went to authorities but they really could not do anything. I took a class in school on electronic evidence and I had to to do research on this type of stuff. In the not too distant future, cyber bullying will be considered a crime and authorities will be able to take action. You would be surprised to see how vicious kids can be online.

I had a bitch from Cindy Clausen as well. I twas her 5th home in a 9-month time frame. Some up north may remember "Sami" She actually had one of the best temperaments I've dealt with in rescue dogs. Aside from her weird coat (thin and prickly) issue, she was healthy as an ox. A fanconi-carrier, thyroid normal, and CERFd at 4.5 years old. Hopefully this boy is as sweet as Sami was!

Nice. Katie was kind of put off when I told her I was going to name Zaire a Swahili name, but she came around when I explained to her what the name meant. Nyonda Zaire Usharifu "Beloved Nobility of Zaire" <g>She is proving not to be much of a talker to me, but oh boy does she chat with Charlie if she thinks he is ignoring her. :D</g>

I watched the show this afternoon, I cried when they showed the dogs they had to euthenize. I just hugged Chase a little tighter and reached over to scratch Zahra (she was squirrel watching at the window). My heart just broke over having to put down those beautiful animals. Overall I think Oprah did a great job, I hope she does more follow up episodes where maybe she can spotlight rescue groups such as BRAT.

Yeah – it was not fun for me. SHE, on the other hand, called me late last night all excited about it and how this will go in her record as an "experience" which will help her when she's job hunting. oh. yay.

I had seen that before so I was watching for the thing, but the second time i did watch the white team and even knowing what was coming, I didn't see it till I broke my focus. The first time I ever saw that video, I could not believe I had missed it! Funny!

@wizard: Glad everything worked out okay. While reading it, I had a cartoon bubble: your two beasties raiding the easter baskets trying to get the stuffed bunnies, while all the humans were battling stove fire. LOL, I did worry a bit about the stuffed animals earlier, but at the time of the fire, the B's were outside!

Sigh … again it all goes to funding or lack there of probably. Politics. @lvoss: I will again say that most animal control departments are vastly understaffed and therefore enforcement of the county's various animal related laws is complaint driven. They just do not have the staff to properly enforce the laws currently on the books. In most counties, they would probably find a huge decrease in the number of shelter dogs if they could actually enforce the laws currently in place, especially the leash law. Many of the unwanted puppies result from breedings that happen while dogs are roaming offleash. Until animal control can enforce the laws currently in place there is no reason for new laws, they won't make any difference.

oops Robin forgot to answer your question - she is eligible in FSS AKC for Companion events - I plan on starting with Rally - I may do some lure events just the baby try it out ones because she is not old enough until November and we don't have much lure coursing in Minnesota in November. Plus I have to say that going to lure coursing without having John Siverson there would feel a little strange - I have a trainer who is very interested in agility with her and would actually show her in agility for me - which given my propensity for falling down might not be bad.

@MacPack: I recommend rubber-backed area rugs, or you will find them all in a pile against the wall as they skid along….. Anne And watch them closely. After 3 yrs w/Jazzy and 11 mos w/Keoki, they suddenly decided to eat an area rug. Okay, not exactly "eat" it, but they certainly ruined it in a big way. Why? Why? after all that time?  Because they are Basenjis.:p

that is really sad.. especially how some didnt have paws… how could you not notice that.. i guess with 800 dogs.. you overlook them ? idk.. i was watching animal cops or something liek that on animal planet the other night and a woman had like 90+ dogs and pups in her house.. they told her she could keep like 2 or 3 whatever the law was.. and she hid a bunch behind dryers and stuff, but they still found them.. that was 90 and a HOUSE.. and that was crazy.. i cant even begin to imagine what that trailer looked.. and SMELLED.. like.. :(

It is so true - everyone asks why we have 3 dogs. When I got Hemi, people thought he was too big. Then we got Cyrus (the B), and he was too bad. When we adopted Oscar from an animal shelter, we had too many. We get so much love and companionship from our dogs. I enjoy them more than most people I know. I wouldn't trade any of them! I would actually like to get another. Shhhhh! Jenn
