Do you think an animal that has rabies would be that crazy? I've heard a rabid animal would do the unusual. Just a thought…

There is someone right down the road from us who owns two minipins - my b's get along just great with those dogs, so AJ probably will be happy with a new playmate!

Belinda. My condolences for Grampa. It sounds like he was a friend to hold dear, they don't come often, loosing them is even harder..

@AJs: I'm getting out of this conversation. Don't want to get yelled at again for friendly teasing. Ciao. AJs Human, who was yelling at you. I read though the thread and did not see it. Can you help me out here? I really was hoping the conversation would get around to talking about some of the things we both had a common interest in like cameras and trucks. I still would like to know what it is like to be an over the road driver in this day and time, and find out how many miles someone has to actually drive to make a living. It would certainly give more insight to the requirements of the travel that you and AJ go through. I do not want to get yelled at for friendly teasing either. Jason

@Shaye's: My granddaughter has a one year old son who has just been walking recently - when he is in our home, both my B's back away from him - I do believe it's because of the eye level contact. When Evan is on the floor, neither dog minds sniffing him and being around him, but when he is on his feet, they become wary. At that point, everyone is watching very closely - any sign of the wrong kind of contact, and they would be put into a separate room. So far, so good - but children do sometimes have a different kind of energy that makes dogs nervous, so to be safe if your dog shows aggression, hire a behaviorist, and separate them until they learn. The most likely reason is the way in which they move. It is kind of hurkey-jerky, and unpredictable…dogs don't like that much. And they naturally stare at things that are interesting. Little kids also don't have much sense about when it is okay to reach out towards a dog, and when it isn't. Most adults have grown to be able to read a dog even a little, and if the dog looks nervous, they don't reach out...but kids, nope..they reach out no matter what :) Again, dogs can't predict what they will do, and their typical warnings don't stop a child. I have always said, the trouble with dogs and kids doesn't happen when you bring the baby home...it is when the baby starts walking!

MacPack: that's hilarious! :D dmcarty: They did the same thing to Indians when they took the children away from the reservation and sent them to Carlisle, PA Indian School, among other places. If they were caught speaking their native language, they were beaten. I guess the method of teaching back then was if they won't learn it nicely, beat it into them. We've come a long way. Your Podengos are very pretty.

Shaye points very often when we are out walking - when she sees another animal she will stop and point, always the left front leg. Glad to see other B's do this as well - she looks great when she does this - head in the air, paw curled up - the whole body at attention. When we got Gemma, the B mix who is now Shaye's big sister, I was surprised to see that she does the same - I guess it is part of their nature.

My grandma died at the age of 62 from breast cancer, mom had it at age 40, and I was diagnosed and had at age 42 a double mastectomy, hysterectomy, 6 mo. of chemo, 7 weeks of radiation, and will probably take anti hormone pills the rest of my life. C A N C E R sucks. My husband was diagnosed 7 years ago at age 39 with a RARE appendix cancer that has no cure and is struggling with the affects almost constantly. DRIVE FOR A CURE! We appreciate your efforts and great things can happen when people work together! Very, Very sorry for your loss.

Cute! One point of worthless trivia is that I have personally seen every Panda that has ever been in the U.S.. Don't ask me why, it has just somehow worked out that way.
