I was struck by the fact that your Bernese lived to be 20 years old! Wow! I know they have had concerns with cancer in the breed, and very few of them live that long. How wonderful for you that you got to have her for that long. Terry

Where in Ontario? I also live in Ontario and know of litters and puppies. Same thing as dmcarty. You can click on my name and then on my website, or go to the BCOC website @ http://www.basenjiclubofcanada.com/ Depending on where you live, I may know of someone close.

YES, it was a mistake (I'm told) on their part, and I was not actually accepted. Therefor I am on the hunt again for sponsors, which is harder this time, as I am in Greeley more full time and don't have availability to drive to denver for the HCBC events, and don't see any upcomming shows for awhile.

Hi Anne - Thanks for checking in on us. Kona is settling in perfectly. She is so sweet and only causes trouble a couple times a day - mainly when my husband isn't home :) She traveled with us to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando over the Thanksgiving weekend and handled it all very well. She even played beautifully with my nieces and nephew. We are so lucky to have found her and she is the perfect fit for us! We look forward to coming and meeting the other Tampa Basenjis. I am hoping to come to the park after the holidays once Kona is completely caught up on her shots - she goes for round 2 tonight. I will post some more pictures soon too! Lisa

It was nice of you to adopt him anyway (even if no basenji in him). Cute looking nevertheless.

He's a hungry dog today. Gave him 1/2 cup in the morning and just a few minutes ago. He had no problem eating. I'm much more happy that he's eating now. He likes his bone as well. Not too much into the Kong yet. I just wish he didn't cry in his crate when I put him in there. Feel bad for him but I know it just takes adjusting. He is perfectly fine when I return home after he's been in there awhile. It's just the initial time. To be honest though, this transition went far better than I expected. I was prepared for the worst. This little guy has done very well.

I saw the DNA kit in an Orvis for Dogs catalogue (you can't spend more money for a dog than with Orvis!) and in at least one other as well. I'm sure you can find one via the internet! Good luck,. Anne

Do you think he may be reacting to the big change in his family - the loss of both your ex and his basenj companion?

You know I've always thought I might go back and get that nasty sucker - but probably wouldn't let me cross the border with a weapon. I've always wished I just let Jacque kill the darn thing - rather than me jump it and break both ankles. Apologies to those of you who don't know the story of the Chronicles of Sarnia Legend of the Black Squirel - this may seem like an inside story and it is. In any event - hard to imagine Rose that the dogs are that age - could that mean - gasp - that we are aging as well??????

@mauigirl: I am also very interested in what your daily routine is like with your zoo on a ship! They all must be very steady footed. You posted pictures already, yes? Way back? I remember….I think you posted to the forum when you were about to get Chafuko and now he's almost a year! Time flies! I remember the Ibizan/Podenco too Yes that's right!! Chafuko is almost one year now! :p Like i said above, gladly (is this a right english word? hihi) we don't have to be steady footed.. I'm really sea sick (weird combination huh  ) and never was sick before ( hope it continues this way hahaha) The Ibizian you remeber is the sister of our Hailey, Pentah. She was staying for 4 months at our place, before she went to Australia! If it's a miracle, our dream came true and we've got one for our selves now! Only the bad time Hailey got before she got here was not fine… :(
