Welcome to the pack. My previous beastie had a dandruff problem that was brought on by stress – but it wasn't nearly as bad as you describe. The oil supplement has been suggested before and may solve your problem too. Make one change at a time though so you'll find out what really works. And definitely post pictures when you can - we are just addicted to them (you will be too).

Welcome-everyone has their own idea of what a dog should weigh-a lot of it based on structure. You should be able to feel the ribs, but not necessarily see alot of them.

First off, Welcome to our site of valueable Basenji information. I have learned so much linking into this site, we have lots of laughs as well. My B, Sahara, crosses her legs all the time, she is such a showoff and often has the regal queen look. I love the look myself, they are such beautiful dogs I must say, not that I am partial or anything. Your Piper is so cute, welcome again.

Welcome! I strongly agree that you should meet a B in person. They are very catlight in their movements, and Cyrus even grooms himself like a cat. Cyrus is very independent, but also very strong-willed. To further complicate matters, he is clever and good at gettting his own way. If you want a challenging yet loving breed, a B is a good choice. Once a B decides you are a worthwhile human being, they are very devoted but not in a needy way like some other breeds. Enjoy the forum!

@WriggleysMom: We've always had rescues and I feel like I've missed out on puppy antics, so I'm debating. Toby doesn't baroo or wag his tail and I really miss being met at the door with a welcome baroo and a tail trying to wag itself off!! I had a puppy and was getting the urge for another but now we have a 7-mo old foster and I can't take my eyes off her. I remembered I really did not miss that!

Hi Kiro, Welcome our neck of the woods. I live just a bit past Emmittsburg in PA so I'm not too far. The Mid-Atlantic Basenji Club meets at the Carroll County Agricultural Center right there in Westminster. Our next meeting is 1 June and there will also be a spring fun match that same day. It starts at 0900. There is a Yahoo group for the club that has info about the event. It's fun and games. It's really neat to see so many basenjis in one place. Hope you can make it. It's a nice club to belong to. Karen
