Hi all, new to the group

  • Hello everyone, just thought I would make a small post to introduce myself. I am Charlene, a newcomer to the world of dog showing, and am lovingly owned by my first show dog and basenji "Zumi". I am in northern/central Michigan, USA. I have always fancied dogs but until last year never had the opportunity to show or really get involved with them. Through some wonderful basenji friends both in Real Life and online I have that wonderful opportunity opened to me. (though the GSD showing door was so rudely slammed in my face) I'm glad to join in your forum and meet so many more wonderful B-people!

not sure what all to say

    well, thats all i suppose!

Welcome, what is Zumi's registered name? Have you already been showing?

  • Welcome. B folks are often the best of the best!

  • Thank you all for welcoming me so nicely. In my very limited showing I have noticed basenji people are some of the best people in the dog show business. The first dog i really ever "handled" was a super awesome boy named Mojo who was already trained and was so nice to allow me to mess with him :)

Well, Zumi is a boy, and I am just the "handler" stumbling along behind him. So I actually am the showgirl.

Zumi's Registered name is Worrywort's Kiroja Akkadian Epic. I co-own him with Linda Lipford or Worryworts, and Kelli Harmon of Kiroja. He has not really been shown just yet, his first match is June 7th. We have only been working on the whole show etiquette stuff at our classes.

not completely sure how to put pictures up on here, but i do have quite a good few i would love to share.
(to see a pic of the little bugger there is a pic of him and one of my foster rats as my avatar.)

Do you live in the States? There is a new Facebook group called Basenji (North America). I went to You Tube and saw your precious pups. How cute are they! 3 1/2 you are going to have lots of fun with them! Wish mine were young like that again. But mine don't get into trouble so much anymore............except for T, as he's only 8 and will still mess with you, given the chance.

Welcome to the pack! I don't see much basenji in her (but then I'm not a breeder either) but she's good looking never the less. Is she shepherd-size (cant' quite tell from the picture).

Hello and welcome. I'm sorry to hear your little b is sickly. I wish her a speedy recovery. There are some great folks on this site with some great and helpful information. Hopefully they can provide some insight to your little girl's illness.

Hi and welcome! When you let her out, I hope you are out also. Sadly, underground fencing is very dangerous… call the closest 10 shelters to find how many dogs they pick up with collars. They get excited, run through it, then can't come back. Also, while it might normally keep your dog in, it won't keep others OUT. But with supervision, they are GREAT so that they get freedom but you are there if a problem arises.
