Hey Tsjoe007, A Basenji "on the way" ? Your first ? Certainly something too look forth to! Enjoy the first months extra, dogs grow so fast and they are so cute when the are so young! Always nice to know Basenji-owners are in the area. The city of Hoogstraten is no so far form Oostmalle, where i work. I'm certainly intrested to have a look at your puppy. peter4hermans@skynet.be Greetings Peter

No confirmed plans, as of yet. But they should solidify with in the next few weeks. We have been thinking of "wintering" in Berlin until February. We also we'll be in Münich visiting some friends. I'm really excited to go, since there are so many more B's in Germany than Switzerland. In fact Lycia's father, C-Quest's Echo of Eldorado is there as well. =)

Sharron is sooo right. I dont know if we will ever have a puppy again. Older rescue dogs just seem more our style now. Everybody loves a puppy but our older girl is just a joy and has not caused as many stresses yet. Youngandtired, I am sorry to hear that you may have an affected Basenji. I know how devastating it can be when they start spilling sugar. Our Marley was 5 when she was finally diagnosed. Our vet sent us to a specialist who was not very optimistic at first. But once she realized that we were going to do everything we could including learning as much as we could she really turned around and was very helpful. Once you start treating Fanconi it just becomes a routine. It was fairly easy and you start to appreciate every day you have with your pooch. The only hard part was the days leading up to the blood testing which we did every 3-6 months. We just didnt want any of the lab values to get worse but if they did we knew we would just deal with it and keep on moving forward. We treated Marley for 7 years. I wouldnt have changed a thing.

Welcome, and 'ditto' Janneke on the stories. I'm clueless when it comes to the racing aspect–-actually I'm clueless on many aspects, but racing is a big DUH?!?! moment for me.

Wow - your 5th! See I had a sense there you had some major B experience ;) We picked up Jack early that day, think we might have been the first to arrive, and only met one other man picking up a little girl, Stella, he lived in NY city I think. I think there was another couple arriving just after we left for the other little boy in the litter, that might be who you saw. I tell you when I walked in, I was just completely in awe of all those precious pups! So tiny, I just did not picture so tiny! We are on Doris's list for a little girl if we are lucky out of a breeding this fall. Jack needs a playmate!!! Well so nice to connect with you and hope to continue to do so. Good luck with your shows!

I actually live in Lakeside. First and foremost they are all my kids!! Second we like to show and lure course the kid. I will try and get some picturse posted. I would love the meet the basenji group. My younger kids could use some more socializing. Unfortunately, my 2 girls just went into heat and have to go visit grandma's house till thats over. It is just not fair for basenji girls. Their heats just last toooo long. thank you for the warm welcome:D

Welcome to the pack – there are lots of great ideas and tips here (I've learned alot and I've had basenjis for 7 years). There is an old thread about keeping your basenji safe - you might want to search that one - and other threads about health. Anyway, when you get a chance please post some pictures - we're all addicted to basenji pictures!

Welcome! Sounds like you are doing all the right work to make your little girl part of your family. Poor Eski - is he trying to teach her some manners or just hiding out? Our 2 B's were rescues, too, the second one abandoned in the desert "so he could be wild" (according to the owners that the shelter located via his microchip). Crazy! Who knows why, but we're thrilled that our two found their way to us.

Welcome. My first basenji had a lab too, course it was a chocolate lab, but they made for a great team.
