Hi Vicki - I love your name. ;) Welcome and I hope to see more of your postings. This is the best site for help, advice, and friendship. I, too, use the squirt bottle and always keep a cup of water on the counter for more drastic intervention. My two will go at it, then clean each other up once they are wet. It is funny.

http://www.dogscouts.org/Protocol_for_relaxation.html good for any dog, and is talked about in Control Unleashed. Also, i'd try sitting down with him and massage him for a few minutes a day and tell him is is NOT going to another house, that you love him, that he's a wonderful dog, but need to learn to behave, etc.

@snorky998: Welcome and thank you for joining. I have enjoyed reading your posts and always learn something new from fellow members responses. Love the name of your home town!! I suppose the locals get a lot of "There once was a man from Nantuckett….." jokes from the tourists:D Well, I am the one giving thanks ! I am so happy to have found some folks who understand so much about this curious breed. (BTW, all of your dog babies are beautiful! I have really enjoyed looking at all the great pix! I posted one of my boy in my other post in Basenji talk, I will try to get more, but he knew I was holding a treat and wouldn't stand still long enough for me to get a standing shot!)

@tanza: Did she come from a breeder? Most responsible breeders will/should take back their Basenjis? This would be your first option.

Another thing I've done with mine, I use the patio door to get to the garage when we go for rides and the side door of the house when we go for walks (the front door is never used for anything). That way my dogs always head in a certain direction when "escaping" out a particular door. Although a trainer told me not to that (she insisted dogs need to be kept guessing), it has so far worked for me. Even when the two escapes happened, it was in the particular direction for that door.

Since you posted on your other post where you got your pup, do you know if the sire and dam were DNA tested for Fanconi or if Halo has been? Please learn about Basenji health concerns at www.basenjihealth.org

@Nicola: Hi Jenny! :D Oh what a shame. :( I was undecided on posting about SKC on the other site, I wish I had done now! Not to worry, we'll meet someday, I'm sure! And of course, I'd love to meet your gang too. I remember hearing someone saying "….Basenji cross" as I was walking by! Who'd have thought it was you! ;) Yes that was probably me lol. Roxy looked very sweet and I'm sure we will meet eventually:D

We look at Jaycee like when our daughter started to crawl and got into everthing. I can only hope for Jaycee as our daughter is eighteen and still getting into things. Rita Jean

Welcome. I signed on to the site just to see the pics (sometimes you have to), and I've been annoying "the pack" ever since. And it's only been 3 months! But it's an awsome place to be, B-mix, rescue, show, pet - all are welcome.

Welcome and thanks for the pic. (I always wonder why the dogs feel the need to party and play right under the Christmas tree.)
