Aside from personal aesthetic preference, I think this is also why I tend to like dogs with pricked ears. I like being able to read the range of expressions through their ears. It's especially cute when they fold their ears flat in their extremely-happy-greeting-face, like when I just get back home and open the door.

Look up local dog clubs in your area. Ours in Missouri is Greater Kansas City Dog Training Club. They have Obedience and training for shows. Hope this helps.

Hey all. Thanks for the great advice. Lori is signed up for puppy kindergarder and it started last tuesday. I called her breeder and she said get Lori spayed wait a while and try again it could definetly be a hormone issue. So I guess we will just be patient and try again later.

Spaying will take away the hormonal ups and downs, but it won't change her behavior towards other dogs. Definitely start using some reconditioning steps now, and that way the behavior won't have a chance to become more entrenched. Let me know if your puppy class teaches a 'watch', or 'attention' behavior, if not, I will get you the steps. It is the first step to keeping the dog under control in any situation.

I think that sounds perfect! You want the younger dog to be comfortable going new places without the older one; and you want the older one to still have some special one on one time with the humans…but there is no need to get carried away with having them do things separately! Dogs like to act as a pack 🙂

Gossy does this too. My trainer suggested a plastic mat called "scat mat" (available from PetSmart). It is battery powered and gives a very very very minimal shock - equivalent to static electricity. Gossy stopped jumping on the table after only two days. Be sure to cover the battery box with something so your dog doesn't try to eat it.

It took 2 months with COngo to learn how to sleep in his own bed. He was sleeping in the bed with my boyfriend until I came along and I sleep walk so I don't like having dogs in the bed with me. Everytime he would try to get in our bed I just put him in his own bed. It took a lot of patience because he would whine, hit me, cry, howl. It took a lot of sleepless nights but we got there eventually and now he actually prefers his bed. The only time I let him cuddle in the bed is in the mornings when we sleep in on the weekends.

Stella has very short hair, and she is flaky a lot (in more ways than one!!) Do you need a prescription for the omega3 or fish oil? Or can you just the human equivalent at cvs?

Oh man that must have been hilarious (in that really not funny sort of way of course). My husband and I are laughing wildly at this point but we are both dreading the day that it happens to us!!!

He sounds like a very sociable youngster who would like having a basenji pal. I can't imagine having just 1, most really seem happier having a buddy. And while it may not be all roses for the first few weeks, after 3 or 4 months they will probably be inseparable. Good luck!

I've used it - as does a couple of Gordon Setter breeders around here - dogs like it - seem to do well on it.

Congrats! Very cool honeymoon…camping with a basenji! (we all know about "basenji birth control"...they love to sleep between us!)
