Thank you all SO MUCH! Yes, I do feel really lucky and grateful for that moment. I am very glad you like my basenjis, thank you.

RE: My two loves
Thank you very much! Thanks to the sunset light, the beautiful sky at that moment and something calling the dogs attention from the other side helped a lot.

RE: Heat twice a year!
At least now I know that my bj is not the only case, but I do hope she can become "normally" in season only once a year

Hahaha! I thought it was kind of a lineage/ breeding book

RE: Heat twice a year!
Thank you all for your answers. Let's see what happens with my female…
The reason why I have not spayed her is because I am still showing her, unfortunately at a slow pace and not as often as I would desire, but trying our best...
By the way, I am lost when you are mentioning about 'reading the book'. What is that? -
Heat twice a year!
Hello,
This is the third time my female basenji is in season. First time when she was about 7 months last year in July, again back in May this year and now again in October. I have read that bjs are in season once a year (one of the reasons I like this particular breed), so is my female normal? Is that she is still young and her body is still regulating itself? Could it be the fact that a new neighbor moved by my house and he has a female that also became in season last May and precisely started again this past week? This is causing that my basenji male is going crazy too many times a year poor thing!thank you

RE: New to the basenji world, need HELP!
Good suggestions. The only one I wonder about is giving him a 'good' toy when he leaves a 'bad' one alone. Yes, you need to distract when they are with something they are not allowed to be with, but I wonder if your basenji is going to catch on to this pattern and use it to his advantage. Just a thought.
I agree, "trading" works great with basenjis, so whenever he grabs or chew whatever he is not supposed, try to give him one of his toys, like a Kong stuffed with a treat or a little peanut butter, he will love it.
He is 16 weeks and chewing is just a stage that will end with proper techinques. I went through the same and I thought that it would never change, but it did. You just need LOTS of patience and if you could try to live him if possible less time in the crate, or compensate it with mind games and physical activity. -
RE: Runny nose?
I remember my basenji with runny nose when he was a 5 months old puppy, so we took him to the vet. He had found a slight infection on the bronchus, nothing really serious and everything turn well after a short treatment but it would be good if your vet could take a look at it better.

RE: Skin/Coat Issues
At the beginning there were a couple of little spots, this was about three weeks ago, I thought that they could have been the result of playing at the dog park so I just put a little bit of aloe vera on them, but then they started to show on different spots and not only on the black but on the white coat as well. I do not see him scratching himself on those spots but what I notice is that is getting dandruff, it is like his coat is going through something and all that comes to my mind is the food, I do not know.

Skin/Coat Issues
Hello,
Lately Nilo's coat is showing something different, his coat is generally really shiny and healthy but since the shedding season started (down here in FL the hot season has shown up already), he is developing these little scalps on his coat that I do not know how to call and I wonder if it is caused by a lack of vitamins, nutrients…the only thing that comes to my mind is that he changed his diet a month ago, I give him Wellness Simple Food Solution (1protein+1 carbohidrate), he used to have the Salmon+Rice formula until last month that we changed into the same product but the Duck+Rice variety instead. Could it be a lack of Fatty Acids since salmon contains Omegas?I am attaching a couple of pictures so you can see exactly what I mean.
Thank you!

RE: Bait Pouch
I found a few on eBay last night, but alas, they come with jewelry, some of it expensive. But I did do a search on "suede pouch" on eBay, and saw some interesting ones, even in a variety of colours. If you do this search, you will get about 16 pages of items, so you'll need to make your way past all of the cell phone-type covers, etc.
Hope this helps.
Thank you, I am checking them on Ebay but the ones I see…how do you clip them or adjust them to the skirt/trousers?

RE: Bait Pouch
I have a treat bag that threads thru a belt, I got it at a show nearly 30 yrs ago, and its my favorite.
The one that I got comes like that, it threads through the belt and also has a clip so I can use both ways, that is why I like it so much.

RE: Bait Pouch
Try to find one of those little blue Tiffany leather bags. Then NO ONE is going to think it doesn't streamline you. All they are going to think is "ahhh… she got something from Tiffany".
Where can you find those? I have never seen them before.
-
RE: Bait Pouch
I was advised against using them when I first started the reason being, ' they don't streamline your look.' Excuse me? I'm like 35 lbs overweight-honey, ain't nuthin gonna make me look THAT good. LOL.
Hahaha! That was a good one!
I am going to try with one 'discrete' pouch that I found with a clip, it does not look that obvious and it is very practical. -
RE: Bait Pouch
Ok thank you, I was under the impression that those pouches were only taken to obedience rings. Is is much better that way then, so I will use a treat pouch if I do not have pockets.

Bait Pouch
Hello!
Quick question: I am VERY new at dog showing and handling so, is it considered ok to take the bait in a treat pouch instead of my pockets? Thanks
