Basenji Rescue: Desperately Need Fosters homed Central-Eastern and North-Eastern US

  • BRAT is in desperate need of foster homes back east.
    You would have to go through the BRAT foster process, but if your willing to open your home to a b or b's in need, you could change a dogs life.
    I am posting this for William.
    ++++++++++

    I'm sending out another general broadcast because the number of new dogs coming into rescue continues to rise, and I have a backlog of dogs waiting to come into rescue with no where to go. If you can help, we urgently need your assistance now.

    A few folks responded to a previous request, letting me know they can take older, more settled dogs. Thank You! to those who replied. A few people replied from central and western states. I appreciate your willingness to assist, but long-distance transports are very difficult. We really need people in VA, MD, WV, DC, PA, DE and surrounding states. These are all reasonable 1-day transports that we have some hope of arranging with success.

    I have 5 young dogs in need of a foster home now. Please help if you can.

    Please consider fostering-it is joy to help a Basenji! I have fostered two in the last few years-one a young Basenji who had pups at a shelter and an elderly female whose owners were going into an assisted care facility and were going to have her euthanized within a few days if not rescued. The elderly girl lived a few more years-just shy of her 17th birthday. She had never lived with other dogs before and she was fine with my pack-but my dogs knew that she was older and wanted to be left alone. She was spunky though and would nip at them if they got out of line! If I was not having health problems, I would foster one! Jennifer

    June, Gypsy has been mentioned in the Breed notes in one of the UK dog papers, so hopefully you may get a response thorugh that. I don't recall how she came to be in Rescue. There can't be many Basenjis in Cyprus. Have you been able to discover her breeding?

    @ChaseandZahrasmom: I just have to comment on what a beautiful website this is! Yeah - the folks in this group are wonderful and supportive for the Basenji breed. We adopted Daisy from them. Did anyone see how beautiful the B's are? They still need homes.
