    The Basenji Fanciers of Greater Phoenix have begun lure coursing events. We've had two practices already, each with more than dozen basenjis attending. Next practice is August 19th, Saturday. check out www.azbasenji.com/events.htm for details. Lure coursing is where dogs run after a plastic trash bag attached to a string on continous loop course with turns and straights, usually between 550 and 850 yards. The dogs think the lure looks like a rabbit. All us humans do is release them, then it's all dog and their instincts.

    That's a fantastic idea. Here is the schedule: https://www.basenjinationalspecialty.com/schedule/ For a spectator I think agility is hands down the most interesting. Unfortunately it's on the weekend so perhaps not the best for meeting breeders (if you care). This also doesn't seem to be Basenji only, so if you want to see Basenjis then probably not the best. Lure coursing can be fun and there is a lure seminar on Monday. So Monday for that and Tuesday for Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes?

    We are coming to Racine next weekend to run three of the basenjis in the LGRA trail. That is always a fun one to try practice runs for new dogs.

    Steffie, We didn't end up going (long story…but our houseguests were still in town and then we had to take Jackpot to the vet for what we thought was a UTI...but turned out to not be a big deal)...so no pictures. I DEFINATELY want to go next year though! I'm sad we missed it. Maybe we can arrange a B-get-together sometime this summer with you and Michael (& our B's of course)! How was the show in Brighton? You were showing right?
