Basenji Google Ad

Off Topic
  • This is the first time I saw the ad, and I was rather appalled, so I decided to say something here. Lack of oil glands? ugh, my head exploded. I didn't even know they were stolen pictures.

I was thinking puppymill, and I have my doubts that they do any of the testing they claim to do, but I did find it interesting that we have gotten the message across about testing to the point that the puppymills are claiming to test! That was my other point in my original message. I probably should have made that more clear.

I hope the people whose pictures he stole are able to go after him!

    @Rita:

This has been on there with that ad since last fall. <snip>Jeannie and I talked about this ad in the fall.</snip>

Did you talk about that ad here on the forums? I would love to see it, and see what you guys found out. I searched "google" "google ad" and "mybasenjidogs" and can't find the thread.

    @AJs:

I have one of those new Droid phones. With it, I can look up the address attached to the domain name. Additionally, I can see a satellite image of the exact location.

    Belinda,
What app is that? I have a G1, not a Droid, but they both run Android, so I wonder if I could do that on my G1?

No not here on the forum Jeannie and I had been talking e-mail when I found the ad and we talked about it. I do not know if I still have email from the ad or not. I thought it was a bad ad so answered it with another name and email he got back to me even talked with him and found name he was using for female and male. Like I said that was early last fall. The ad went away for a few weeks then it came back. I do hope he get's into trouble for using other people pictures that is incorrect.

Not sure whether it will be on G1. Mine's a Motorola Droid. It's the embedded maps app that's preloaded on my phone. Open the menu when your map is open, go to layers and tap on satellite. It'll be handy to see whether there is parking at my destinations. It's actually kind of cool…it has me pinpointed almost to the room I'm staying in at this motel.

    Sweet! It works.

  • This is awful!

  • I think I recognize the dog in the tree as a photo I saw posted here a couple months ago. This guy needs a closer look. Do we have anyone in the Rotterdam, NY area who would feel comfortable enough to cruise by and see what's up and whether they even have any dogs?

None of the outdoor photos of the dogs look like what I saw in the satellite image I looked at earlier.

  • I am 99% sure that the pic of the puppy head shot, Tri coloured dog is taken off an Australian site as well…

Im off to check Imright, then I will email the person whose photo is . This is sooo wrong...

  • I too belive I have seen some of these pics elsewhere, but of course now I can't remember where ..I will research and see what I can find out..

Yes, trouble needs to be heading this man/womans way…big time..

  • Yep I was right, that cute puppy pic is from this ladies site, so have emailed her with the site details, so now its up to her to do whatever she deems fit .

  • Yup, many "steal" pictures from other sites… and use on advertising for puppies... sad as that is... it happens all the time....

  • this is sort of the opposite of kennel blind. most breeders are proud enough of their own dogs to post pics of them. this person is obviously so embarassed by her dogs she doesn't want anyone to see them.

  • The name and address are apparantly legit on the whois info. DeMarco is one half of a 85 year old funeralhome in Rotterdam.

I love how he states fanconi is a condition that sometimes happens in basenjis. If it weren't so sad, it'd almost be funny!

    AVANDIA CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT

  • Interesting, a Michael A DeMarco Jr of Stamford,CT with beagles had all his AKC privileges suspended for the next 10 years in February 2009.

Here is the April 2009 secretary's page listing the notice.
    http://www.akc.org/pdfs/about/secretary_page/0409.pdf

Here is the notice that appears in the report

    NOTICE
    The AKC?s Management Disciplinary
    Committee has suspended the following
individuals from all AKC privileges for ten
years and imposed a $2000 fine for conduct
prejudicial to purebred dogs, purebred dog
events, or to the best interests of The
American Kennel Club based on their violation
of the AKC?s Cruelty Conviction Policy:

    Effective February 6, 2009
Mr. Michael A. Demarco, Jr. (Stamford,
    CT) Beagle

  • Notice he says "A visit to my ESTATE is encouraged." Somebody ought to take him up on that!

  • Notice he says "A visit to my ESTATE is encouraged." Somebody ought to take him up on that!

I saw that and thought the same..

  • I made a visit via satellite to Mr. Demarco's "estate" at 353 Melrose St in Rotterdam. I'm not sure I would call it an estate. In fact, I'm quite sure I would find some other descriptor for it.

  • Can anyone make a drive up and see it?

  • If anyone chooses to do this, please be careful. I'm wondering whether this is a scam. If it is, the scammer is already a criminal. I would suggest to drive past for a general impression, but avoid knocking on the door.

  • @sharronhurlbut:

Google street view has been through that area, so you can look pretty closely online.
Just Google the address in google maps, zoom in as far as possible, then click on the little yellow figure above the zoom, and drag him to the street in front of the house. You can then look around.

The registrant address is in Rotterdam, however the IP is in Dallas.

I hope that a cease and desist letter from the people whose pictures he stole will be enough to get his site down for a while.

  • I wonder if the "estate" this guy is talking about is in Wimauma Florida? :D

I take Blaze into the senior's lodge to go visit Grandma (in a town of less than 300), sure enough, there's a gentleman there that knew what Blaze was. He was an archeologist back in his day. His last dig was in 1976 deep in the Congo, and he stayed with villagers and witnessed the hunts and the lives of the basenjis in the village. He told me about one hunt. The basenjis chase antelope into huge nets that are strung up in the forest like barriers. The nets are handmade with ropes and vines. Some of the hunters stay near the net and hide, the majority of the hunters take the basenjis to the water hole and wait. When the antelope arrived, they release the basenjis and chase behind almost soundlessly. You can really hear the gourd bells, which are mostly around the loins. The antelope hit the net and are shot with arrows. The basenjis have to get beaten off… they get a little too excited. He has some amazing pictures. I'm trying to borrow his album to scan, but he's not comfortable with that idea. He loves Blaze though and he knows the african word for the breed which I can never remember or pronounce.

gneigum, We posted the thread below and were wonderring if you would be interested in helping us. It would be greatly appreciated if you could! Let us know! Thanks for your consideration. We are currently in the process of looking to adopt a basenji. We have done all the research on the breed and learned about their traits and querks. We have come to the decision that a basenji is the right dog for us. However I suffer from allergies and want to make sure that I don't have an allergic reaction to our new family member. I have done alot of research and have read many artictles which say that basenji's are hypoallergetic. This is great, however no dog is truly allergy free. We have gone as far as visiting a breeder to meet their dogs and had a minor reaction. However I do not know if this was due to the fury little guy or the cigarette smoke in the residence (which I am also allergic to). Long story short, we are looking for a Saskatchewan Basenji owner that would be willing to let us meet their basenji to determine if allergies will be an issue. Please respond if you are a basenji owner in Saskatchewan or near by. Thanks!
