  • thanks for posting Dan. She's a lovely looking Dog, yes she could be a Basenji mix.
What a great job they do. I wonder if a Basenji would make a search and rescue dog, there would need to be something in it for them :D

  • I definitely see a Basenji in that mix. Great video. :D

  • It's definitely a pariah type dog.. Even looks a bit Dingo to me. Very nice dog. And great to see how owner and dog interact. :)

  • I've been tossing around the idea of using B's for search and rescue. In addition to being excellent scent hounds, they have the advantage of being sight hounds as well. Also, they are smaller, faster and more agile than bloodhounds and Bassets. The only disadvantage I can see is their short hair, which may make them inappropriate for cold weather rescue. I don't see anyone housing a Basenji outdoors to thicken the coat, as is the practice for police dogs.

Buddy only stays out during the day but his fur is on the thick side like my first B which could stay in a dog house when I was gone for days without coming in. But it does not snow here or reach sub zero temps.

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Basenji in the rain:eek: !!! I now see it is possible without physically dragging them on a leash;)

  • Houston

Great clip. Thanks for sharing ..once again Dan.

Jepp I agree, she definitely looks to be at least part pariah dog, basenji, or something like that..

My boy Sunny would howl on cue. We had a little "howling song" that we would sing, and that set him off. Also, the phrase "you're only a dog and that's all you'll ever be" would result in instant howling! And once started, he would continue. I have a video where I picked him up and held him upside down, and he continued to howl!

@Quercus: Donna is AWESOME! She did a bunch of the trophies for last year's National…and she was very, VERY generous to us. Her work is great, and she is just a really good person! I know she did the puppies, but did she do the embroidered towels too? Those were cool. I particulary like the b/w puppy because it almost has the same markings as Zoni. :)

Folks, The purpose of this board is to provide a place for Basenji owners to make connections, exchange information and assist and encourage one another. It is above all a friendly environment for online discussion. This is a forum for the discussion of Basenjis, not a dueling society. If you feel attacked, please report it to the admin and then ignore the poster. Remember, however much you were provoked, if you attack a poster then you are just as guilty of breaking the rules. Telling other people what to do and how to post is rude, derails the conversation even further and often ignites flame wars. Please just report the user to the admin and move on. Thanks,

Vicki i'm pleased that Dudley is improving. Today i was talking to someone with a Bloodhound who was recently diagnosed with a yeast infection invilving her head, ears and eyes. She was put on a course of madication and was advised to take her off any products containing Wheat.

No basenjis, all small "toy" breed and so called designer dogs.
