    Just wanted to update..
    Things are getting better around her, Dotty is blending in better and the fights have diminished to sporadic/few and play is more prominent.
    I basically took a step back and let Otis put her in her place and I think it worked, now she doens't seek him out anymore, rather tries to be his bud. Luna, our 10lb Schnorkie mix we have has also laid it on her, so Dotty has been taught and is still being taught what is cool and not.

    She slept in her crate last night, cried and screamend for an hour before she fell asleep, but finally she gave up and tuckered out. I had the crate right next to our bed, so she wouldn't feel punished/abandoned/lonely, or whatever. Otis laid in his crate a few feet away and was curled up in a ball, but letting this really deep growls out every so often..I have never heard him do that before so it took me a while to figure out who was doing it, through the screams and whining from Dotty.
    So far so good, she is coming around and is becoming a sweet part in our pack..

    To all of you fellow forum friends, thank you so much for all your positive input, expertise and kind thoughts, they have helped me stay sane, as I was thinking I had made a big mistake bringing Dotty into our lives and making my pack so obviously unhappy. Play now overtakes the negative rumbles..

    thanks for the update, glad Dotty is settling a bit more. Sounds like Otis was telling her to shut up last night, lol.

    We have peace..the white flag has been swung and we now even sleep close to, I mean on each other…

    We still have serious spats, but we also play the way only b's can play, and we run…like the wind together.

    Just like my previous 2 I let them work it out, loud spats 1 minute, then running around playing then stopping to lick clean the others eyes. Whata ya gona do, they're Basenjis.:D

    BTW, I also use the shunning method with my basenji. He gets into everything and so I have to baby proof my house. Sometimes I leave a drink on the table and he tries to drink out of it and when I catch him with it, I let him know I am mad! I growl at him and then turn my back to him and he gets very upset. When he does anything I do want him to do, all I have to do is growl at him and he comes over to me bows his head and curls up in my lap. I guess it is an instinctual reaction to submit to his pack leader. He hates it when I ignore him in any way. He is funny, because he will sit down and look at me and whine or try to jump up on the chair with me if he thinks I am mad at him. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk

    Hey Nicole, good idea. Once his issues are dealt with I'd be more than happy to bring in a foster :) Ive got new ideas im putting to use and so far today everything's gone smoothly. No snarky Anubis today lol

    I leave Luny in the kitchen mainly because that has flooring that won't be harmed when he spills the water bucket (I got one of those flat-sided ones that hangs with not a lot of water but he still makes a mess with it). When I leave in the morning it's dark out anyway. Lately he seems "resigned" to having to be in the kennel when I leave for work - he no longer howls and doesn't pee in it and doesn't tear up the rugs much any more (I can tell he doesn't really like it though). He doesn't hate the crate because he'll go in there readily to be fed and look for treats so that's good (EL D never would go near a crate and he would actually destroy one if forced). Luny's still a little anxious when I "disappear" even for short times so I'm not sure I can trust him loose in the house yet but I'll work on that. I leave him a kong with some peanut butter smeared kibbles - he hasn't yet learned (as EL D did early on) to toss the thing around so trying to lick out the insides keeps him occupied for awhile. We're progressing I think.

    i am brave? tehehe…stubborn is more the word. the punishment for touching the tree is one present goes in the garbage. i spell garbage g-a-r-a-g-e...luckily, i have only had to put one in the garage so far, it was a quick lesson.
