Oh my, I am so sorry to hear about your little guy. I am glad he is home again and feeling better. Please do keep us updated. How are y'all regarding the dust storms?

  • well i live in canberra which is about 3 hours from sydney and we got the dust storm the day before sydney got it but it was nowhere near as bad as it was there. it was pretty gross though couldnt see very far in the distance non of the mountains or hills or towers were visable. and our cars looked like it had rained dirt on them. apparently where the duststorm orginated i think it was Alice Springs it just went dark like night time. would have been very scary.
they are expecting more as well… great :(

  • Hi Katrina02,

Im sorry to hear about Oden being so sick, really scarey stuff for you … The first thing I thought of was the poisonings that are hitting your area, too... I was panicing thinking it might be that, but, thankfully it looks like its 'only' gastro :). The poor little man must have been very sick, I wonder what it was that he ate, any ideas ???

The pictures that were coming out of Sydney yesterday morning were unreal, it looked like the end of the world was here, scarey stuff :D. I heard on the News last night that car washes and mobile grooming businesses were having the busiest day of there life :D:D:D...

    Basenjimamma,

Little old Tasmania is the little island hanging off southern Australia, so those dust storms were too far away for us, we were busy having a few road closures, caused by snow, yesterday :eek:

  • i have no idea what could have made him sick we had gone for a walk the night before and he has to always pick everything up in his mouth so it could have been anything maybe yucky poo on a stick im not or it could have been some roast chicken left over from puppy school that i had been using for training im hoping its not that cos then it would be my fault and i dont want to hurt my baby.

yea it was pretty scary although the emails going around now are hilarious one of the harbour bridge with godzilla among the dust trying to destroy the bridge

  • Yep that would be right about the emails…

Good old Tassie has so far missed out on them, as usual :D. I guess it will reach us eventually, God only knows when ;).

Glad Oden is seeming to be getting better, they do like to keep us on our toes, dont they ??? How is the house building going ??? Anywhere near moving in yet ???

  • we finally got out title today so hopefully we will be able to move in, in about 3 weeks i cant wait and oden will finally be able to settle down haha yea right

well oden gave me another fright today because he hadnt gone poos all day so i rang the vet and apparently its a side affect to the needle they gave him to stop vomiting etc and then straight after i got off the phone he went

To both Saba and Katrina, I am glad y'all are safe-ish from the bad storms, keep your lunges clean right?
I can not believe there are people poisoning eachothers pets? Well actually I can, our dachshund, Gus we got from my husbands brother, he was breeding them up til about 6 yrs ago, when he ghot ina tiff with his neighbor, and the neighbor poisoned his dachshunds, all but one puppy died, Gus is now living with us. Terrible people..
Stay safe and I hope Oden "only" ate someting bad and it wasn't poison.

  • Glad Oden is ok now Katrina, poor little boy

  • Glad Oden is okay and that you are too.

  • I'm glad to hear Oden is doing better. It is especially scary when they are so little. Yay Oden - I'm sure he'll be back to terrorizing you in no time. :)

  • Happy Oden is all right no fun when they are sick. Scary not knowing what is wrong.

  • Good to read a happy ending to this story - I chuckled when I read your deal with the temporary constipation. Trinity became constipated for a minute when she had the runs for about a week - I was ecstatic when it all stopped, then became upset again when nothing came out. And yes, not much worse than feeling responsible for causing your B's pain…

  • thankyou for all your well wishes Oden is doing much better but sure gave mummy a fright :)

Heidi might be allergic to penicillin. It might be an idea to contact the breeder and find out about the medical history of Heidi's for-bearers. For a long time after I got Mister Two Dicks, he would throw up for what I though was no reason. I would give him dry food, he would throw up. I would give him canned food, he would throw up. I would give him beef bones, he would throw up. After much complaining to his breeder and others, it suddenly dawned on his breeder that Mister Two Dicks' grandfather was allergic to beef. Ever since, no beef, no throw ups. It could be that Heidi is allergic to something and it is hereditary. Just a thought.

The article I read on ginger said they started taking the ginger capsules 2 days before chemo and of course used regular meds during the chemo, but their ginger group had less nausea/vomiting than the placebos. Maybe the trick is to start early!

@Andrew: Maui, I do indeed mean the mud/latest fashion accessory at Brook Run :p Lol. Niiiiice. I'm sorry you missed my epic trip 'n fall and then my having to walk around with half of me covered in mud. It was….something else. I'm really leery of that part of the park now. Damn root sticking out of the ground.

I don't know if dogs can get sick from human bacterial infections. Good questions though - maybe someone here knows for sure. But…I fear that we leave germs on our pets as we pet thier fur and kiss their heads when ill. Then another human, child, spouse or friends might pick up the germs from the dog we pet. Sort of like an unwashed door knob - in a way. Kind of gross, huh?
