Under short

  • Pearl she is beautiful and I can see why she is your little angel she looks like one.

    Rita Jean

  • nice wrinkle and muzzle is short which might account for the bite - lovely ears - if the sidegait one is of her - nice reach and drive, the standing one - hard to say she is a bit under herself in the rear and looks to be a bit overweight (like me LOL) and down in the pasterns - likely the way she is standing.

Enjoy - I did a little test run of my Podengo - Hanna - and she loves it. So great one more time to get her started (if she does not go in season in the next couple weeks) and then it shuts down for the winter.

  • @tanza:

She is very cute, but looking at the photo's of her teeth, in my opinion, this will not correct itself and if she were mine, I would not breed her.

Of course! They shall be perfect if to breed on!!!!

It's just to start look for an new Basenji! I really want to show!

I think my oldest Jack russel may become an substitute so long….

  • I think you should ask breeder if other relatives (puppies from same litter, from other litters… ancestors etc.) have problems with bite, teeth etc. If they do, I think it's better to take new puppy from other breeder, different dogs.
Also, about father - why do you like him so much? Have you seen his offsprings from other litter(s)? Are they good? Is he realy so good (his look, temperament, health) that you want show quality puppy exactly from him? ;)

And your girl - I am sure that you will find something to enjoy with her, lure coursing, agility... Who knows, maybe that will be more funny and interesting than shows. :D

Good luck with your girl and good luck with finding another one. ;) :)

O yes! I think it will be from another beeder the next time…
And about the father, so no I haven't seen so many puppys from him because he has only two litters after him yet... But I have been told that the "good stuff" my "puppy" have is mostly from the father and I like the type he has...
There will not be any puppy for some years. We have 4 dogs now that all want there time...

  • Let me tell you this sad fact of puppy information and which part provides the good stuff. It commonly is attributed that the 'good stuff' is from the father and if there are any flaws it is the dam. That is completely untrue - they both contribute material and how that genetic material is connected within each individual puppy is a result (good or bad) of both of them.

There have been stellar males who have never produced as good as they were and non-descript bitches who produced wonderfully no mater what they were bred too - and every combination in between.

But I know what I see!!!!
Yes it can be so, but if my dog is very look a like her father I think that the "good stuff" comes from the father! I didn't meen that the mother was bad!
I belive that she can do very good with another male, that is more look a like! But I like the type of my dogs father more than the type if her mother…

@Saving Thanks so much for the information! I am researching further and continuing with her rehab exercises as best I can. Glad you recovered from your spinal injuries.

Did she always have them or did they start after something/some time? Do antihistamines clear the problem?

@elbrant said in Bordatella and Canine Influenza Vaccines: @Saving said in Bordatella and Canine Influenza Vaccines: divisive I guess I'm a dreamer.... but I believe that adults can have discussions and opinions without resorting to name calling and rude remarks. Your input is valuable. Thanks, because it's become a religion as soon as you speak against it people get so offended. The last 3 years has shown that quite clearly @Saving said in Bordatella and Canine Influenza Vaccines: Another friend's dog has a swollen leg at the vaccination site of his booster which is not resolving I"m sorry to hear about your friend's loss and understand the concern about the other friend's swollen leg. I had a similar experience, one of my dog's (not doodle) had a grossly swollen leg following a vet visit. The Vet told me it was cancer and I opted to let her go. Month's later I read online that it could have been the result of an allergic reaction. Please advise your friend to research possible answers before she makes a decision. Will do, a lot of the medication/vaccines cause inflammatory responses so it could just be that, it's still not nice for the dog to have that experience @Saving said in Bordatella and Canine Influenza Vaccines: dry food ... suffering from malnutrition omgosh! That is so scary!! I doubt the big manufacturers would ever allow a real study to see the light of day, but I would love to see one done. Just the thought makes me want to keep feeding my girl human grade foods. Yeah the same here, her research indicated that raw chicken wings were the optimal food and contain pretty much everything needed. I guess if you think of some of the processed crap they have in supermarkets trading as food for humans you can imagine how low the bar can go for pet food.

@Rebel - Full blood workup including full Thyroid panel (full panel no just what the normal vet workup that is not a full thyroid panel)... as they say make sure that he is in good health. Also what are you feeding him? How much total are you feeding a day? Also with reducing food, add veggies to his food to fill his belly... green beans are good to use... I use Cauliflower and Broccoli... Note also that low normal is typically too low for Basenjis.

@serenjane My Kembe had the freckles on her neck - more pronounced in summer months w/ the sun and also as she aged. I use to call her my little 🦒 giraffe. 😂

@mryltis Read this comment from @morgansc within this post dated May 30, 2019, 7:49 AM. It answers your question. Ideally it is best to wait until age 24 months but no early than 18 months. https://basenjiforums.com/post/177284
