I have not looked at the ads on puppyfind.com for about 4-6 weeks.

I growl when toddlers jump on me, too!
Tally looks darling. That picture of her sitting with her legs sticking out is hilarious. I need to stop looking at these photos; otherwise, I am going to want a houseful of basenjis.
Good luck!!
It does make you so mad when people have a pet as a substitute baby untill they get a real one. They just don't realise that they are denying their child the wonderful experience of caring for a pet.
I also can't stand people that have a dog , and then get another one and then dump the first.
Some folks just should never have animals.
She is a cutie, and I love that picture too!
I've been looking at the BRAT site at least once a week because eventually when I move, I want to adopt a B as a friend for Cody (probably a female). I've realized he is much happier when he has a canine companion, and he will probably mope when we move and he doesn't have Moe to play with. She caught my eye because I think that they have temperaments that should be compatible. Unfortunately, I can't adopt anyone at the moment, so I have just been watching and hoping that they get adopted (along with Star, Rosie, BJ, Brady, Zoe, Sparky, and the many others that are on my "if only…" list). Although I have to say that I'm particularly in love with Rosie because of her story, and Tally because of her temperament.

I agree.
I have a friend (and I use that term lightly), that just got a 5 week old golden retriver pup..5 weeks, oh I was so mad when I heard that the "breeder" was letting such a young pup go.."but he is weaned", as if that matters..He hasn't even got his first shots yet..Steaming mad..this friend also has a 4 yr chocolate lab that has never seen the inside of their house, she has lived out in the backyard since she was old enough to do it..even through hurricane IKE last september..horrible, right, well now she is trying to come up with a reason to get rid of Cookie (the 4 yr old lab), because she is too wild, and she won't calm down and so on..give me a break, the dog is starving for attention, she will do anything for a ball to be thrown for her. Well I asked what she would do with the new pup, if he is being crate trained and so on.."nope, no need, when he gets old enough he will be in the backyard fulltime, like Cookie", if I could only get y'all to realize how badly I want to wring her neck…I have to litterally sit in hands so I don't slap her..and I know I don't have a right, but somebody has got to stand up for these dogs..
My husband is trying to find somebody to "adopt" Cookie out of her boredom and misery, if not I think he will take her in..i.e us..which I don't want, but will if we see that is the only solution to the problem. '
Again, sorry for the rant, stepping off the pedestal now..
Basenjimama,
i can so identify with what you say. Now for my rant :D, well actualy i have already had a little rant on another post about the same thing. We have a friend (and like you, i use the term lightly), she lives next door and she has decided about 3 years ago that her two house cats will live totaly outside with no shelter. We allow them in our house especialy in bad weather but i dont realy want extra cats.
Like our neighbor came over about week or so ago said lady she works with has a one year old king charles spaniel needs a home. Lady don't want it anymore because not a puppy and said could not find home she would get rid of it.
I wish there was a way to never ever let this lady have any kind of animal the rest of her life.

Sigh, some folks just should never have pets.
But thanks to lists like this and education, the public is slowly learning that dogs and cats and well, any critter that is dependent on us, need to be a life long committment.
So, lets hope one day that this is the rule..
Update on Tally, I have a family, nice family going to look at her this weekend.
Fingers crossed that they see her for the jewel that she is, and I can post that she has found her good home.
Will keep you all posted.
this is my fav part of rescue..finding a nice dog a home. Its my "drug" of choice..and if anyone wants to help BRAT or even their local humane societys, I strongly suggest it.
Its a labor of love.
Thank you and fingers are crossed that this is the home forever.
Your doing a great job thanks.

Great news, Sharron. I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed that things go well for Tally this weekend.
Yay! That's great! I really hope everything works out!!!
My grandmother's neighbor is another one of "those" people. She has quite a few dogs and cats that she doesn't keep fenced or tied up; she just lets them wander the neighborhood. Since she doesn't seem to care for them, a few of my aunts and cousins have taken in some of her "pets" that have been injured. She gets angry, but refuses to keep her animals safe. I just want to shake some sense into her.
I just dont understand people. How can you have and animal and not love it. Or treat any animal like it isnt a living breathing creature with feelings. I have raised my share of dumped animals. From kittens that were dumped on the side of the road eyes still shut to baby sparrows thrown from a upstairs window because its mother nested in their air conditioner. The cat I have now was dumped in the desert he is almost 17 years old and the sweetest creature alive. It amazes me yet!!!!
I so wish I could take her.
Tally is still looking for a home. I am just surprised that she didn't go quickly, as she is so darn sweet…but we do have some good ap's in..so fingers crossed, she will soon have her new place to be...
Sharron - Tally is a doll, a little too chubby or not. She looks like my Cami. I hope someone adopts her, soon.
Reading this thread about people giving up dogs is so upsetting!
There is a woman on my road who adopts animals and never ever looks into the future. She thinks nothing of re-homing rescue dogs because of STUPID reasons. I try not to talk to the woman - - for her own protection!!!
A couple months ago, the neighbor woman applied with a cat rescue group to adopt a beautiful cat whose master had passed away. The cat is a special breed. When I heard about it, I contacted Whiskers Project in Atlanta and gave them an ear full. The woman was not allowed to adopt the cat. Whew. I honestly felt guilty calling the rescue group and interferring, but not now. Since then, the woman has decided to place her home on the market and wants to move into a condo that doesn't allow animals. Grrrrr.
I might add that the woman owns a dog that is a rescue and won't rehome well. Also, after the woman was turned down by Whiskers Project, she adopted an abandoned kitty at her vet's office. Where will these animals go when her house sells?? Very very disturbing.
This is wrong!!!!!!!!
But we can only change what we can in this life.
I do believe that anyone who does animals like this, will be judged harshly in the next life.
But oh, those poor dogs.
I just saw that Tally is pending! Yay! I hope everything works out.
I saw that too, earlier this morning when I did my rounds on BRAT..bad vice I have.
I hope she gets her very deserving forever home soon.
I am driving her to Eastern Wa where we will meet up with her new mom…and the home is "golden"...as Tally is such a good girl, it should be a match made in heaven.
If I get some photos, I will post them.
Sharron, once again you are an angel..
That is great news a home of her own. Tally is pretty so kind of you to take Tally to her new home. Please tell her new home thank you.
