    Hello Patty!

I'm so sorry if I worried anyone at all, Eesha is fine, as are we, my sister got taken into hospital and we all went down to south of england to stay with her family, they do not have internet so couldn't update anyone of situation as to why I hadn't been on the forum. Tried to connect a couple times from my mobile, but it wouldn't work.
My sister is recovering nicely now and we are back home. Sorry to anyone that thought I was being ignorant.

How are you Patty? I will reply to your private e-mail address in a moment and let you know what's going on re breeder etc.

Eesha is doing well and growing at an alarming rate, haha. She is so solid and heavy!! I have a video of her, my Fiance Gavin was having a bath, left the door open (big mistake) and Eesha ran in and decided it was her bath, he called me up and I filmed it, it made us laugh so much!! She's such a funny puppy!

Ok hope to hear from you soon. Katty x

  • @Patty:

Katty23 - hello. I have been trawling through Sally's website to try to discover your puppy's details for you. There are some breeders in the East of England. You say that there were 15 dogs - were they all Basenjis? Did he give you any advice about Basenjis? Did he offer you registration papers You'll be able to get plenty of advice on this forum. Has she had her jabs? It is essential that she be socialised with other dogs as well as people- have you got any dog clubs nearby?
If you are feeding a complete kibble type feed make sure that she has plenty to drink. Basenjis in general don't drink much and so it's advisable to give plenty of liquid with the food.
Be very firm with her even though she is only a baby. Help her to learn that no means no. Set parameters for her and make sure she abides by them. Basenjis have very good memories and if you give in once she won't forget that and will use it in future.

Please read my private thread to you and then we will be in touch. I am always willing to talk 'Basenji'. My home is always open to visitors to see and learn about Basenjis but I appreciate that you are a long way from me. We can always talk on the 'phone.
I'm sorry that this sounds a bit formal. It's just that I am most concerned that you have a happy relationship with your baby.
Basenjis are fun and It sounds as though you are having a lot of fun with her.

    Hi again Patty,
I didn't realise this post was on here, so I'll reply to it now.
I really appreciate all you are doing to try and find eeshas details and the breeder, it's so nice to think so many people care like we do. There was around 15 dogs, couldn't see exactly but that's how many i counted and they weren't all Basenji's they were half and half chocolate labs.
He did give us a lot of advice about Basenji's, he even had a painting of an African man carrying a Basenji around his neck, but didn't offer registration papers and I don't know why we didn't ask, I just really wanted to take Eesha out of there, I feel bad now that I didn't try and find more out about him and the other dogs, I suppose I just thought if i started asking too may questions he might get funny and chuck us out?! That sounds pathetic doesn't it.
Yes she's had both of her jabs and we have microchipped her too.
We have found a puppy party that happens twice a month, so she has been to that a few times and even won cutest puppy!!!
Also we take her to our local village a lot and we know a lot of people with dogs, so she has met quite a few and gets on suprisingly well with them.
Apart from one of my sisters Jack Russel Bitches, they didn't get on at all!!
She has even met two Japanese Akita's and didn't batter an eyelid, tough little girl!!!
We have taught her to sit and stay (when she feels like it)!! Thank you for saying we could talk "BasenjI" and it would be lovely to one day to visit and see your Basenji's and learn more about them.
Ok I better do some work now!! Talk soon

  • This is a link to a video I took of Eesha taking over my fiance's bath!!!

  • Hi Katty23,

nice to see you back and to know all is well with you and Eesha:D

That video is so so funny, mine run a mile when they here the bath water running!!

  • Hi Basi,

Thanks for the welcome back, glad you liked the video, honestly it was so funny to watch, she's never done it before and normally doesn't mind baths but not over keen on them, think it was because she saw Gavin was in there!! Bless her, thinking of taking her to the beach at the weekend, see what she makes of the sea!! :D

  • It is so good to have you and Eesha back. What a lovely video - wonderful to see how much she's enjoying herself!! She looks very healthy too.
Sorry to hear about your sister - I hope all is well now.
Congrstulations to Eesha on her win. Grand that she is so well socialised. Basenjis who get on well with most dogs often have their own particular likes. After all we don't like everybody we meet do we?
Just a quick welcome back - I'm off on a three day break and what a job to get everything organised!!

  • Thanks for msg Patty, I'm really glad to be back on here, it's such a friendly forum isn't it and so helpful.
Glad you liked the video, we have so much fun with her, she just makes us laugh in different ways every day!!
Thank you, my sister is recovering well, was scary but she is going to be fine so all is well.
Eesha should have won the most energetic puppy at the party, she never stops running!!
That's true, humans don't get on with everyone they meet do they. She has made a good friend with our friends Bischon Frise Molly, they love playing together, i'll put some pics on here.
Well enjoy your three day break, i know what it's like getting organised to go away, very stressful! Have a great time and hope to talk to you when you're back :)

  • That video is hilarious!!! Wow! Does sho know she's a basenji?! Or haven't you told her that yet… :D

It is so funny isn't it, we were just crying with laughter when she was doing it!! I know!-I'm not sure I've mentioned it to her yet that she is a Basenji, might hold off telling her for a while, so she can do more crazy water stunts!! :D

  • Houston

Wow, she is amazing, getting in the water like that. It is nice to hear that y'all are doing good, and I am sorry to hear about your sister.

It's hard to wait but take it from me; enjoy not living your life by the clock while you can..once the puppy comes you will find yourself looking at that clock and setting timers to go out to potty, eating…enjoy peaceful sleep and freedom..because once the puppy comes its a prison sentence for a little while (not to sound like a downer..lol) I was so excited to pick up Oakley that I picked him up a few days short of ten weeks; I wish I prepared a bit more mentally for such a huge event..Oakley was a tough cookie...so glad puppyhood is over! I miss the tiny body and cute little wrinkles but that's what pictures are for!! Lol Congratulations and don't rush it, be excited for it but enjoy the time Between then and now

You have done a great thing for that dog. Bless people like you who will adopted and rescue these wonderful dogs (and I mean any breed). My basenji mix came from a shelter also. She has been a handful, but a very much loved hanful. I wish you well in caring for your new furbaby. Oh, and I have friends who give a benadryl to their standard poodle everyday. Sounds like you have started down the right path for this dog and it's future sounds brighter.
