Lost Basenji in Antioch, CA

  • I wish I were over there- I'd go look for him myself!! This is heartbreaking!!

  • I just spoke with Karen Jones of SoCal Basneji Rescue. They desperately need help from someone in the Antioch area. Clint has been seen at two different schools, but Myra needs someone close by who can drive her and her other dog when he is spotted to catch him. If you or someone you know lives in the Antioch area and can help, pls contact Myra. Thank you!

  • @BDawg:

Also, can you give us a couple of surrounding area zip codes to help search for him?

He was just spotted multiple times on Jan 17-19th
    at Deer Valley High School.
4700 Lone Tree Way, Antioch, CA 94531.
    School's phone is 925-776-5555.
Also at a nearby middle school.

The owner Myra needs someone to drive her & her other dog
there with some food to see if she can catch him.
Myra is blind - can't drive or see the dog or see the school yard.
    Myra's phone is 925-755-2877.

    Antioch is near Oakland, CA.
Know anyone who can help ?

  • Any news on Clint?
Has he been spotted again since the 17-19th?

  • I read on B-pix tonight that he has been captured and is in a shelter, will be picked up tomorrow. He is healthy and none the worse for wear, according tot he report.

  • That is great news!

  • So this dog has been on the run since December and is just fine? Gosh… I wonder how he got food/water??? I'm so glad he's caught! What is B-pix? Anyway of telling the owner/owners family about these Forums so they can join in and introduce us to little Clint?

To answer your questions - Clint was lost in late December. He ended up establishing a 4 mile territory which he circled. It included 3 schools and a Taco Bell. Food? Kids throw food on the ground at school. Water? it's been raining. About the owner, Myra, using the forum? She cannot see. She is blind. I was petrified the last 2 nights, thinking about how cold he must be. I thank God that he is safe!

  • TGFTB… Thank God for Taco Bell. ;)

SOOOOO glad Clint is safe!! I want to see his pictures!

  • B-Pix is a yahoo email group for sharing pictures of Basenjis.

Whew, glad for such a happy ending for Clint and Myra!

  • That is such great news….

update: Ginny (Basenji lost in Dennis, MA) has been sighted several times, including by Cheryl herself, and is hanging around a specific area. A humane trap will be set up tomorrow, and her new dog-brother Tom is on the job laying down a scent trail for her. Keep the good vibes coming at them all, and keep your fingers crossed for good news in the very near future! Laura Whitney Arlington, MA

@seaslugg@aol.com: We got Raven home tonight!! Thank you for support!!! I am so happy you got Raven home. You now can be a good ambassador to the "don't use invisible fencing" brigade. Call any animal shelter and find out how many dogs they get in with collars on. Once a dog bolts through the pain, they won't risk it coming back in. Many end up dead. There are lots of options if you can't have "real" fencing, but often the only choice is simply go out with your dog, on a lead or line. Apt folks survive doing it. Oh wait, and so do the dogs. Please post pics and yes, PLEASE tell us how you got your pet back!

Sonic has been found in the area he was lost, according to a notice on B-Pix last night. He is home safe and sound.
