Squirrel

  • Well, it never fails…;)
I just had the house professional cleaned yesterday..
    Oh, the kitchen just gleemed!

Today, came home and the b's were all over the fireplace insert...
I could hear we had a critter in there.
So, put the dogs behind the baby gate, opened the back door, the door to the garage, the garage door and waited.

Not too long, this young squirrel comes out chattering.
Does he see freedom and flee??? NO
he takes his little dirty squirrel feet and runs all over my kitchen!
HE left no counter top or item untouched with this soot from that
    stove pipe!

    SIGH!

This is what happens when you try to have NICE things...

Oh, the b's when crazy and finally, I got so mad, I let them chase the critter to the backyard where he got up the tree and chattered at ME!

Then the b's went all over the kitchen, sniffing and checking to see
if there was another one in the house.

    Never a dull moment!

  • LOL.. that was too funny Sharron… sorry about your kitchen...

  • Well, I guess that is the cleaning GODS way of telling me I should have had the wood stove cleaned FIRST!
    giggle.
I can't believe all the little foot prints…all over my wood floor as well.
    laugh...

That is even funnier… sorry to laugh at your expense.... but in my "minds" eye ... I can just see that all happening.....

  • brilliant sharron !!

  • Thanks..sadly its all true.
I had a clean kitchen for one whole DAY!
    laugh

  • I can just picture this little squirrel running all over the place and jumping from counter to counter (sorry about the kitchen though).

  • Ok, here is my tip for those of you who get to have this joy!
Not only do squirrels run all over, but where they stop, they Mark!
Yes, they leave little bits of squirrel pee where ever they GO!
Picture me pulling my hair out and you get the idea!
    Sigh.
Just try to have nice things…when you have b's and squirrels, there is no friggin WAY!
laugh...kidding, now that I put cleaning the kitchen on me "to do" list.

  • Oh my, sorry to hear about this but I too could picture the image of the squirrel running in your kitchen! Thanks for sharing, sometimes you just got to laugh about things because crying doesn't do any good.

@JENGOSMonkey I WAS THERE FOR '89! I was a kid, but I remember the water coming out of the swimming pool in huge waves and everything falling from the shelves! I was actually born in San Jose, but moved around a lot later LOL I hear the wildfires are more of a concern for you guys now? That's scarier than quakes for me...

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@kembe - Very True Kembe, here is a link on looking for a responsible breeder. https://bconc.org/finding-breeders-red-flags There are many scammers out there, don't fall for one.. or a person that is not a responsible breeder.

@sanjibasenji Thanks for the article on Dog Genome Project - I found it very interesting. I was trying to figure out the interactive Genome wheel. It has the basenji closely related to the Azawakh and rat terrier but I’m still trying to figure out the first wheel which has the basenji listed w/ black/grey starting point. As far as the PBS Dog Tales video - it’s very interesting - it’s season 47 episode 2 - I highly recommend you watch the whole thing (54 minutes).

@Kembe, nice post! We've gone to solid food chopped up in a food processor, but we're grinding it a bit more course as we go. So far, no puppies are choking, but good to know!
