Weird Dream!

Off Topic

  • I had a strange, strange basenji driven dream just before I woke up. One of those vivid and intense dreams.

I was taking the dogs on an errand in the car and stopped at a shopping center. The shopping center was in a U-shape with an open area in the middle. It was seemed like dusk and there was snow and snowbanks. (While we have had snow flurries here in Savannah, never enough for snow banks!!!) There were basenjis every where! It was like a scene from 101 Dalmations but with basenjis. Even little puppies were lying in the snow. I got out and investigated and found the dogs were coming from one store that looked like a motel room once you went inside. There were more dogs inside but no people. It adjoined to another "motel room" that was obviously where the people lived. I looked at my cell phone and tried to decide whether to call the humane society or Brat. As one might imagine, I didn't have either telephone number in my list of contacts. So then I pondered over whether or not to call 911 and does this constitute a true 911 emergency?? About that time, the owners and their children returned and somehow had a fairly reasonable explanation for all of this. If the dream wasn't already odd enough, in it I owned 3 basenjis and lost track of them in the mayhem. I got really panicky but located 2 by their leashes dragging behind them. I called DH and asked him to see if Jayden was at home and in the house because I couldn't remember whether or not I brought him with me. He asked me one of those husband "logical" questions that can be REALLY annoying: "Why don't you just look down and see how many dogs you have with you and whether or not he's one of them." Annoyed, I snapped "If it were that simple I'd do it!!" He did find Jayden at home and I woke up.

Wonder what set off THAT dream! If it was my subconcious telling me that I need a 3rd basenji, I'm going to slap the stuffing out of it!!

I'm sure!! And then add your several incredibly tolerant adopted cats to the mix. And then you sit on your couch and discover that the 101 basenjis have been tunneling upward!

Of course! After all, they worked very hard on the project…..and managed to keep it secret for quite a while so they wouldn't spoil the surprise.

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@kembe - Very True Kembe, here is a link on looking for a responsible breeder. https://bconc.org/finding-breeders-red-flags There are many scammers out there, don't fall for one.. or a person that is not a responsible breeder.
