Already missing my girls…

Basenji Talk
  • I am away from home for about a week and a half (fiance had to attend a convention for work and I'm along for for a little r&r) and I miss my girls terribly.:( I can't remember the last time I was able to type without Kit in my lap touching keys at random moments.

  • Yes it is sad when we have to leave our furbabies for awhile.

Haha, I know how that is. Medjai thinks my trackpad on my laptop tastes good, so he licks it and moves the mouse all the time. He also thinks he is a fly and can land wherever he wants to take a look at things, so he'll walk on the keyboard and sit on my lap resting his head on the mouse button.

  • I know it's tough. I just got back from two and a half weeks in Hawaii. The littlest B and I fell asleep ion the chair together when I got home :) Such a nice feeling. I missed them all so much. That's why I suggested a Basenji rental service in another thread…..

  • Lol! A basenji rental service would be great right about now.

  • poor you!! i have to go on holiday in a month or so and Kip has to go in kenels.. but he should be ok… he's a rescue dog!!

    Kit is probably fine too

  • I probably need "professional" help, but I don't like to be away from mine even for an extra few hours, like working late, or going to some social function at night. I like them with me all the time! I've had other dogs through my life , but there's something about these….....

  • We finally made it home this past Saturday. It was so good to see the girls and they were really excited to have us back as well. We have been spending much quality couch time to make up for our time apart!

I am really curious about what Zuri will do this autumn  Last year and this year too, she was in season in late May/June. And also in october last year. Poor thing - wasn't happy with beeing into it so soon again after her phantom pregnancy… This time I don't know. Thabo is telling YES. But Zuri isn't acting like that and other males are not interested yet. Would be happy if not. Currently she's in a good mood again :)

@lvoss: Have you been counting days since she went in? Also, Walmart has $4 fleece throw blankets that you can use on your furniture for her to lay on as a compromise to britches. If you are really lucky you may be able to find them at Big Lots for as low as $2.50 I'd second what lvoss says about fleece - my pup is in heat as well although we're 10 days further in (Liyah started on the 8th) than you are :D. I found a bolt of fleece in Walmart's remnants section this week - cut 3 throws from it - actually thicker than the pre-made throws. The bolt cost 2.84 - quite a deal!

I recently returned from a week's vacation and picked up Gossy from her "vacation" (she stayed with the breeder). She was happy there but still happy to see me. When we got home though she was just crazy - running everywhere, couldn't chase enough squirrels, throwing blankets and pillows off couches and beds - I didn't know whether she was happy to be home or just getting back at me :D

@snorky998: The way those little feet can grasp and manipulate things, it's almost as if they do have a psuedo thumb (like pandas).:) Opposable thumbs are often related to species that are considered to have a higher order of thinking. Those of us here that have ever said "How the h*** did the dog(s) do that!!" may secretly think they just hide their thumbs till we're not looking :D. Higher order of thinking? Who knows. Prankster order of thinking? Absolutely!! :D :D :D Toooooooooo funny, and tooooooo true…
