Personality difference by color

So I read several threads that refer tri's being "naughty" (LOL) so could those that have (or had) one of each color describe how the personalities differ by color. I know it's not something normal to dogs, but just wondering if there is some what of a difference

I can't say as I only have r/w's. BUT, one of them is a dream-dog as far as behavior and the other is very, very naughty, LOL.

Tri's IMO are "wicked" but in a fun way… I have reds and tris... and the Tri's have a different sense of humor.. at least mine do.. but they are related, so would not be unusal for them to act similar. I think they really all have their own personalities... but I find that the saying "The girls have an agenda, the boys don't have a clue"... pretty much fits...

Yeah…I think it is sort of a coincidence that tris 'seem' naughtier based on the numbers represented here. I don't think there is really any true difference in color tied to personality. Their are challenging Basenjis in every color...and completely smooshy love-bug Basenjis in every color.

My tri girl is naughty But I had a tri male here for months that was sooo sweet, and not naughty at all.

Dallas is a r/w & he is a cuddle bug but certainly has his naughty side that I see when he feels he isn't getting enough attention. Haha.

Jackpot is a tri. We've had him for a little over a week…and we watch him like a hawk...so he hasn't had a chance to be naughty (hasn't destroyed anything or made a mess in the house...yet) LOL. But then again, we've only had him for a little over a week...so only time will tell

Kiya our Tri girl is quite the "queen bee". She came into our house at 3 mts old and took over! She rules over our 1 year old boy. It is such a funny sight!
Just last night Alex and I were sitting on the couch and Kiya was curled up right inbetween us. As soon as Chance saw this he decided he wanted some attention too. The moment he jumped up Kiya turned into the bundle of terror that she can be. Every hair on her back stood up and she showed these tiny puppy teeth while making these un-godly sounds! She lunged right at his face while snarling just to tell Chance to go away!
.5 seconds later Kiya transformed back into the little sweet Kiya Bear that she is. Her eyes get this "arn't I adorable" look in em and she shows every wrinkle on her head.
Just .5 seconds earlier she was this demon dog who unleashed these sounds that would make your head turn. You gotta love Tri's.
One of these days I am going to record this….It is such a sight to see!!!!!!

Ooohhhh….shades of Ivy FTR...what you described is the first we saw of her resource guarding, and around 4-6 mos old. When she was around 18 mos. she started guarding things against us that she had snatched. It took that long for the behavior to show up.

That isn't to say that she will grow up and be a serious resource guarder...but just be on the look out for it, and take a proactive approach; start doing trades with her now, if you aren't already

She is only nasty towards Chance. I think Chance eggs her on too. He really likes to tease her but she will stand her ground. LOL

That's good, but remember it all starts someplace… and while it may never progress, it really should not be acceptable that she does that when laying with you and Alex... She will most likely always be like that with Chance when she feels like it... but doesn't mean that she can't "behave" herself at the same time.

Our Kristii is like that, always has been and for 13yrs has been "dumped" on the floor for that behavior to the other kids in the house... when sitting with us (either together or only one of us).... and she "will" contain herself if she wants to continue to sit there... If she choose to do that on her own to them and they let her.. that is between them.

That IS good. But usually you won't see guarding toward people until around 6 mos or so. Just be aware. What she is doing to Chance is absolutely guarding her resource (you)…and often these behaviors come in clusters.

Tris aren't bad, they're just drawn that way, to paraphrase Jessica Rabbit. Something about those little red pips over the eyes gives them an evil look, so they get a lot of bad press.
I have two tris and a lovely mellow(finally, at age 12)black boy, and Nicky (tri girl, surprise) rules with an iron tooth. She still eats shoes and anything leather, will even unzip my backpack to get my wallet out, and she is over 10 years old. OK, she is the naughtiest 10 year old basenji I have ever had, OK, maybe tris ARE naughtier.
She and Ed sure do make me laugh a lot.

Not sure about the difference in the colors but i have had a red+wh and he was an angel compared to my Tri i have now lol my red+wh could be alittle pain in the butt but my Tri i swear is possessed by Satan lol

I own blacks and reds, all related. The one thing all my blacks have in common is the way they manage to charm just about everyone they meet. Rally has always had that way about her often earning comments like, "What a nice girl, and I don't even like black and whites!" Just ask Pat, it is an inside joke between us. Her son Cole, owned by mom has also managed to earn himself quite a fan club while he was working on his championship even. Her black son Ringo seems to have gotten a line of people ready to stuff him in their pocket and take him home with them if his owners aren't looking. Her daughter Sophie is no exception to this and it is so funny to watch people just be utterly caught by her spell. So I would say my black and whites just love being the center of attention and are very good at accomplishing it.

My reds, Rally's uncle Nicky and her daughter Rio are perfectly happy to not be center stage. They are both very sweet and very willing to please me but really could care less if any one else ever really noticed them unless the person is one of their "special" people.

The most important thing is to meet the family of dogs you are considering and see if the temperament and personalities that you think will fit in your famiily. That is one of the reasons I was out in North Carolina this weekend.

Yeah…those eyebrows. When I saw my first tri I thought the same thing. They really make em look mean but man oah man are they great at giving affection.
Now I just everything about em.

Well everyone knows that our tri is a little devil! Recent count was she somehow got one of my husbands hats and ripped the back off of it. I swear she opens doors and climbs! Last night I was making porkchops and waiting for the oven to heat up and I heard some strange noises coming from behind me. Of course it was Trixie trying to get the pan off of the counter! All I can do is laugh! LOL
