Stop Following Me!!

Basenji Talk

  • Duke and Daisy are driving me crazy right now. They are following my every move at the heel. They ate their dinner, have water and just came in from outside - the only thing I think they want is a chewy (rawhide). I just threw out 2 stumps as I always do when 1-1/2 inches left on them. I don't have any more today. <<gggrrrrrrr>></gggrrrrrrr>

  • LOL! This is so funny to funny picture! Do you have bacon strapped to your heels? :D

Ha Ha! Uh - no bacon, but I just checked my socks for anything else…they're clean. :D :D It's so odd that both are working in tandum with whatever mission they're on.

  • Clearly they have something in mind :D

It depends. I've never had to crate another breed forever, but my one basenji would get destructive if left alone.. the 2nd one would pee on my bed. So crating it was. However, I'm home so they were rarely crated. My current basenji is fine loose as long as she's alone. So like they said, do it slow, confine to an area that is safe and see how it works out. But if you need to keep crating, most dogs sleep far more than people.. up to 17 hrs a day. Just exercise before and lots after so they aren't bored.

I buy 12 inch 'sticks, thick ones, and then toss the last 2 inches to prevent the 3 am barf. My guys are older and the sticks last for several days. They would be too expensive if they ate them in an hour!

I know.. time flies … already two and a half....... You are so right,, i guess the thing is I am envisioning a bit of a change in my living situation, where I may move to a bigger place and also maybe have the possibility of going to the mountains on a regular basis. This may or may not happen, but I guess I will know this year. If that happens then I definitely will want another.

My boy bruised his tail when he was younger. It stayed down for a couple days and would only curl up when he squatted to pee. But then it returned to normal and he's been fine since. Although he didn't have the curliest of tails to begin with. lol
