I LOVE ADORE and WORSHIP my dyson animal, lol, I have never had a vacuum better. I had a bissel that talked about good for pet hair and it died in a yr, my dyson I've had for 3 yrs and never had a problem, my boxer and cat shed bad because the weather can never stay the same here in Germany.
Also you don't have to replace the dyson filters like you do on bissels, I was replacing mine every 3 months

I am so glad to hear you say that because I just bought the DC14 Animal off Overstock.com because I had a coupon for 10% off and DH is upstairs sniffling like crazy, poor guy.
I ended up paying $395 for it, I can't believe I just paid that much for a vacuum but Chase has been reupholstering our furniture with his fur and I can not stand the ugly couch covers that DH bought at Wal-Mart.
I promise it is well worth it, I think I paid like $450 for mine. I am a member of a boer forum also and I think all but a handful of the members have them, lol, and they all swear by them also.
I have this Dyson Animal. The mini turbine head works wonderful for the car and furniture. We have a chair that the cat has taken over so I have to vacuum the layer of fur off it about every 3 weeks, and I vacuum her cat tree at the same time, it works great at pulling the hairs out of the fabric it has woven itself into.
As for the rest of our furniture, well we just went leather, LOL, easy to dust/wipe off the fur and occasional drool spots.
Yes! The Dyson Animal is awesome! It's great for getting hair out of bedding and furniture, and it keeps your carpet looking new.
Though our B mix hardly sheds, we love the Dyson because it keeps the dust mites at bay. Our poor little guy is allergic to them and will break out in hives if we don't vacuum often enough.
I have the regular Dyson (yellow) and it is amazing! I couldn't believe how dirty my carpets actually were. My only complaint is that it is very-very heavy! I think Dyson now makes a light weight vacuum. If it has the same suction power as the heavy ones, I'll save up some extra $$ and get it on sale.
I love my Dyson also….. It is well worth the price... but as Jill says it is heavy, but I am thinking too about the new lightweight one they just came out with.

I have the purple also and I am sure the difference is money….:D .... besides that I can't remember
The purple one comes with some extra attachments, like one is the mini turbine, you disconnect the hose from the vacuum and attach the mini turbine to the end of the wand and the suction power from the vacuum spins the turbines which pull the hair out. Plus (I think) it has more filters for the released air. Also it comes with some carpet cleaner stuff, and a few other this and that items
I noticed at first about the heavy part, but didn't mind it to much. And with what Duke said, I couldn't believe how dirty my carpets were from the first time I used it. It had only been a week between the time I bought my dyson and my old vacuum died while in use. I'll never use anything else.
It even works better to vacuum a car than my shop vac
I got my Dyson today and I love it already! It sucked up so much dog hair out of the rug that I didn't know was there, yuck!
This thing is incredible! I would take pictures of what I picked up with the first vacuum but I don't want you all to think I have a dirty house! LOL!

I'm fortunate that Senji only sheds about 2-3x/yr. The last time he "blew coat", you could tell where he was laying by the pile of fur left behind.

It is very heavy, but they have just come out with a new light weight model… it is a real workhorse....

All kidding aside, I offered to clean my father & brother's house if they would byy a dyson for christmas...no takers yet :rolleyes:.
Did you use that special attachment to pick up the hair or the regular one? I have the purple dyson with the attachment (Turbo especially for pet hair) but I can't seem to figure out how it works :embarrassed:

I'll try and explain it, Okay unclip the hose and handle from the vac, extend the arm and remove from hose, push up air vent on end of handle, attach hose to this end (should make it so that you have an extension and the hose is attached by the handle, then take the mini turbo to the end of the extension, the suction from the vac will spin the turbines.
Okay I hope that helped, if i confused you I could take pics and show you, lol, I really don't mind. It took me awhile to figure it out also.
Oh and for quick jobs you can take the handle out of the hose completely and then attach the turbine to the hose

The Kirby lifts the edges of my rugs, making it very awkward, holding the edge with one foot while I try and move the vacuum. Does anyone recommend any other brands, maybe a lighter weight one? I am looking at the Dyson cannister, or 'slim' but they are both a ton of money!
