New member Here! Introducing my pup Oya
-
Hello All,
I made a few posts already without properly introducing myself and my pup. My name is Rowan and Im a Software Engineer. I live in Florida ( for the pandemic ) and but will relocate to the Bay Area in California after things get back to normal
Id like to show you all my Puppy Oya, shes about 5 months old. I got her from Mibre Basenji over in Ocala Florida from a Breeder Named Leo. She is an odd patterned Tri-color Basenji. She looks black and white but the back of her ears and the back of her legs are brown. she is very sensitive and loves to cuddle but also has a ton of attitude!

She is very cute.... would wonder if there is brindle in her pedigree? Care to share her breeding?
-
She looks more like a fula-black ! I have had several over the years. Donner and Deedles both sired them. The tip-off here is the tan shading behind the ears and not much elsewhere, if any. Tris are special - f/bs doubly so. And they know it !
Anyway, she is a pretty little girl.

Welcome to the Forum Rowan! Oya is beautiful ! Congratulations on your new pup!

I'm still waiting for the AKC registration to come in the mail but here is the information I know:
Sire: CH Skywalker N Mibre's Mad Hatter
Dam: Mibre's Truffle's Karamello KissI wish i could post links directly to the Zande Basenji database. It was pretty cool to see the ancestry!

@zande Fula-Black? Fula as in the Fula People?
-
As in Fula, the Basenji imported from Africa by Veronica Tudor Williams. The colour first showed, I believe, in her descendents. No melon pips, no tan on the face, just where your girl has it, behind the ears and on the legs. If you email me privately, I will send you a picture of one of mine. It is uncommon but the mutation does occur. Your girl is almost certainly a fula-black and you will be able to trace her backwards on the pedigree on-line data base once we have her in it.
Go to the pedigree on-line website anyway (see signature block) and you can trace up and down from Fula.
What is your girl's name ? Registered, I mean. It could be she is already in the database.

If I were to allow everyone to update their own records, @rhughes89, it would be utter chaos. I have to check the spelling of puppies in litters sent to me direct from breeders, and an unholy quantity are incorrect ! With and without apostrophes, sires and dams mis-spelled (which if I wasn't careful would lead to a multitude of doubling up). Luckily there is the AKC website and various national dogweb-registries I can go to.
But if you send me a photo or anything, I normally get it into the database the same day and re-upload it all that same evening.
And no, the 2019 litter is in, but not the 2020 so let me have the registration number as soon as you can and I will dig out the whole (registered) litter.
