It Took Me 1.5 years of looking and talking to breeders before I was able to get on the waiting list in time to get a pup. You have to start preparing and talking to breeders in the early fall in order to get on the reservation list for a puppy by next spring

There us a pup that looks very basenji listed as mix on pet finder. Name is Hachicho , kennel is Border Tails Rescue, on east coast
-
@isabob
Yes! Says basenji mix but Hachicho looks almost purebred basenji. -
I agree, Hachicho, on petfinder.com has some serious Basenji vibes!! Looks like he is in the Chicago area.... poor little guy has some cold weather issues (notice ear edges).
Anyone looking for a B in Illinois?
[note: link will become obsolete in future]

I knew this was going to happen, but I am STRONG!
This little guy looks just like my Freida, the last basenji I helped go over the rainbow bridge.
I agree, this boy is all basenji -

Hachicho was adopted the same day he was listed by Petfinder. I was told that a BRAT volunteer had gone to see him but that an adoption application was already in the works. I was also told that he was very likely a purebred. Rescues and shelters don't advertise dogs as purebred unless they have their papers.

@senjisilly There is another rescue that seems to be pure bred: CT rescue

@elbrant Tanner in Connecticut is a senior purebred. I had a lengthy conversation with the owner. Tanner is 12 years old. Her owner have recently retired and downsized their home. Tanner isn't coping with the smaller space. There are more details but I prefer not to mention them in a relatively public forum.
