    Hi everyone, I’m so glad I stumbled across this forum, it’s wonderful to read all the posts from basenji “monkeys”(😉) as passionate about their pups as I am.

    I am blessed to have Jagger, 5 years young, and our newest addition Kamali who is 16 weeks.
    Incredibly they are 5 years to the day apart. Kamali was born on Jagger’s birthday to his sister so they are uncle and niece!

    I was so worried about their introduction to each other but it’s been fantastic. Kamali screamed (and if you’ve ever heard a basenji scream that’s the only word for it) when she first saw Jagger, but within minutes they were inseparable. They are so entertaining to watch as they play and rough-house together😊

    I’ll try to put up some photos, I can’t seem to upload them...

    I look forward to sharing our adventures with you and can’t wait to hear yours😊🐕🐕

    These instructions for uploading photos might help. If your system tells you that the file(s) are too large, you can reduce their size in several imaging software products (even the Windows "Paint" software can make it relatively easy). Always good to note that photos posted here may very well make their way to other sites.

    @Jagali, It's fun to see that love for Basenji's has spread across the planet. You're gonna have fun watching your Basenjis wrestle. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

    This is a really good forum. It may have been a bit more active in years past from what I can tell, but spend some time combing through the sub-forums. There's a ton of great threads and posts pertaining to just about anything Basenji. I've learned much about diet and training that I didn't previously know.

    I look forward to seeing pics of your pups! if you continue to have a hard time uploading them, holler and I'll try to help!

    Welcome! You are doubling the fun (and the craziness) with TWO Basenjis! I have one (Binti needed to be an only child but I love her with my whole heart. You might want to join Basenji Rescue and Transport website also, there is lots of interaction on there and fun pictures and you will also meet more nice people who are slaves to their Basenjis.!![alt text](0_1600552615366_BedMaking.jpg image url) This is Binti helping me make the bed!!!!

    @jagali Its wonderful how an older Basenji will accept and bond with a puppy. We bought in Mku when Hoover's older half-brother died and she went into a decline. Utter misery ! However within a very short time they were soul-mates, he brought her back to almost puppy-hood, certainly to life-enjoyment and mischief. She taught him survival life-skills and how to gang up on Mom -

    Sadly Hoover herself left us a couple of weeks back and now I have a lonely wee Mku - I guess there is only one thing for it though . . . LOL

    At 18 months and 7lbs I very much doubt that he's got Basenji in him but who knows. It doesn't matter,- he's a delightfulchap and good to have you both on here. Looking forward to more pictures.

    My EL D will nip "unprovoked" at the legs of any males that come near me – I think it's related to incidents with his previous owner. But also I've been noticing that these "attacks" are not always totally unprovoked. In some cases, he'll nip at my brother when he comes out of the dark guest bedroom or up from the dark basement and I think he doesn't like the surprise. He'll also nip if there's too many people crowded around me or him and so maybe he doesn't like feeling surrounded. Maybe there is something that is really setting off alarms with your beastie too. EL D hasn't been any problem when we're out on our walks - he'll even let the neighborhood kids come running up and pet him (I've told all the kids however that they have to let EL D smell them before they touch him and the kids all respect that so far). The problem might partly be a territorial thing.

    @lvoss: Even these breeds shed. Anything that has hair will shed. Anyone with long hair can tell you that. I find strands of my hair on things all the time. If it has hair then it sheds. Some breeds like poodles, bichons, etc shed much less and the hair is different so people with allergies to dog hair are less likely to react. It is a bit different then shedding and by the way, short hair falls out too :D .. the hair falls out… it is usually mostly the dander that gets people's allergies going....

    Hi cmd - My name is Jill and I am the recipient of a rescued male puppy, Duke, who I have since learned (after 4 months) is a Basenji, now 8 mos. old. I love this forum, because I have learned alot about this breed. I now realize that Basenjis are a challenge, but I believe the more I know, the easier he will be for me and my family. There is no turning back now because we are in love with Duke . Select "Bonnie Bell" a 10 month old female (from Emerant's the Instigator and Select in my Pocket) and "Ramsey" Geheep's Klassic Jim a 11 year old male (Klassic Eye of the Tiger and Baruh's Jessica Hahnd) Wish I knew where Duke's blood lines run. You must be proud. I am new at this and I love to read the stories and learn that I am not crazy! I am glad you're a veteran as are many forum friends here. I love the stories about the Basenji's extraordinary body of energy and their purposes. Can you guess why my handle is Crazy Duke? I can tell you about some unbelievable stories about Duke since bringing him home already. (That's why I'm glad to find this forum - Duke's not crazy, he's a Basenji.) She was an awesome dog and was very very loyal. I am so sorry for your loss. But the only comfort we have is knowing she had a great life being in your life. I've lost many doggies over the rainbow to squirrel heaven. I hope you'll share some more stories and help us new-B's here on the Basenji Forum.
