AB1634 California

  • Update today, this passed out of committee, so the train wreck of a bill is continuing on to the Assembly floor, if is makes it out of there, then on to the Senate and then the Gov….

For all California dog owners, support is needed, write you rep... fax... they say that is better then emails.....

IF This bill is passed will destroy pure breed dogs as we know them today...

And if it happens here, you can be sure it will happen across the country....

  • Tanza what exactly is the bill?

  • Please go to this link

  • Thanks Pat! I hadn't even heard of this bill. YIKES! I'm going to write some letters. Do you know specifically who we should right or fax to. Jackie Spears?

  • This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard…so you basically pass a law to extinct dogs/cats??!!! Are you kidding me!! :D please all you Californians please speak up against this insane legislation.

  • This has been all over the news…. and there were a ton of people there yesterday when it made it out of committee, including AKC...
and once this passed in CA... believe me, it will follow across the country...
Note also, that they say there is an exempt clause for breeder/registered dogs, however if you read the bill in total, you will find that it expires in January of 2008....

Dan: I would fax to every rep you can find... gggg....

  • Also, if anyone can set up a face to face with their representative in addition to writing a letter that would be huge. If you go to the AKC website you can find information on talking points and finding your representative.

@ashleyalanej Oh, that's awful. I took my pups to meet my vet a few weeks ago. She was telling me that she's seen a rise in Parvo this year as well. Scary stuff.

By the way, if you read this bill, it also says that you can NOT sell your puppies from that "one" breeding, you have to give them away among other requirements…. Please folks I urge you regardless if you are in California or not, write a letter against this bill, what happens in California is the "poster child" for the rest of the country...

Cambria is located on the coast of California. It is north of Los Angeles and South of San Jose. Cities along the coast seem to be much more dog friendly. It's beautiful along the coast. Santa Barbara, Monterey, Carmel and Cambria are very dog friendly places to visit and very beautiful.

@Tayda_Lenny: Hello! there is a possibility that Tayda, Lenny and I will be moving Northern California in the next few months! I noticed there are a lot of Northern Californians on the forum and I'm wondering where the really dog friendly area are. I might be working in San Jose, and would prefer to live about 1/2 hour north - maybe in Freemont/Union City/Newark area. Is this area dog friendly? Are there fenced in Dog Parks around? Hello there! I live in Cupertino and work in San Jose. Here are two websites that will tell you what dog parks, trails and even hotels you can take your B to. http://www.bahiker.com/doghikes.html http://www.wagntrain.com/dog_parks.htm
