Basenji Talk
  • Hello all! We'll be having a fun time in Calhoun, GA this coming weekend! At this point, there will be possibly 5 Basenji's entered with 3 in Open, 1 Field Champion, and 1 Veteran. Those I mentioned above will be there only Saturday and Sunday (not Friday).

Would love to see more B's join us! For more info and premium, go to: http://www.gangcoursing.org/

And it looks to be nice weather to boot!

If you've never done it and are interested, come on out to see what it's all about! We can answer any questions you might have, and if we don't know the answer, we'll find someone who does.

    Hope to see you!

Our female goes to bed with dad and are male stays out with me. I think she likes to sleep on moms side of the bed and streach out. Ive come in a few times and found her with her head on my pillow. :)

We lived in Davis for many years where there is only the public display but you can hear the mortars they use pretty much everywhere in town. We have been in Ventura for past couple of years for dog shows and they also only have public displays but they also have several shows within a 10 mile or so radius and the mortars are clearly audible. My husband and I strive to expose our puppies to lots of noises when they are here. We get the holiday poppers and watch loud action movies with the surround sound on so the pups learn it is no big deal, just everyday kind of things because you just never know when they may be exposed to loud noises again. Some people say they have good results playing the loud action movies on the 4th so that by the time the fireworks start the dogs just think it part of the show.

See that is what I am dying to hear. we just got home and he made a really worried sound when we got out in the backyard. Come to find out Luna, our Schnorkie and Otis had been "playing" with one of our younger chicks that keeps flying out of the run…needless to say he was bothered by the fact that A) the chicken was traumatized and B) I was mad...Thankfully the chick is not hurt severly and will be Ok with some loving inside for a few days.

Leaving the US you shouldn't have a problem at all with that size of crate, they really don't care as long as the dog can stand up and looks comfortable. I know Europe is a whole different thing, I'm not sure what rules are in Switzerland, but I know for friends that traveled to Germany the dog need a hands width between the top of their head and the inside top of the crate when the dog is sitting. For the UK is completely different and no part of the dog can touch the top of the crate, another friend moved to the UK and she has a mini Snauzer (sp?) and she had to buy a crate for a small lab or golden retriever (the size 6 from the link you posted) because her Snauzer had cropped ears and even though she was leaving from the US, she was flying on British Airways they wouldn't allow this little 15 dog on the plane without haveing this huge crate. Your best bet is to call the veternairian that works for the aiport you're leaving from or the airline and ask them what the regulations are for flying with your pet. By your post it sounds like the ears can't touch the top, is this right?
