My Great Dane Chelo

Off Topic

  • I've mentioned my Great Dane Chelo a couple of times. Thought I'd post some pictures of him for you all to see. He passed away last april, but he was amazing. Here he is at my mothers house and the picture in the grass is at a place called Jarabacoa, which is up in the mountains. I was working for a few months there and rented a house , ( beautifull wooden house from the 1940;s) with 42,000 meters of land around it, Im not sure how many acres that is)
I took him with me and he had the greatest time. I am so glad we got to spend his last summer in a place like that. He loved it there, and he loved being with all of us (my family and friends).

  • He looks like a great dog, and he was lucky to spend time in such a beautiful place, with his loving human.

  • Looks like a noble (and well loved animal)

  • Thank you, he was great and noble….it's a shame they have such short lives, although I know any amount of time is short when you have to say goodbye....

What a beautiful regal boy..Stunning. So sorry he passed over the bridge of rainbows already.
Thank you for sharing him with us.

  • Chelo looks like he was a gentle giant. You touched each others' lives - a gift for both of you. Thank you for sharing the pictures and his story.

  • I found some other pictures of that summer in Jarabacoa . Here are a couple more…
One is with some of my nephews , im the one in the middle with Chelo, and the other photo is chelo with the beautiful Valentina!

I love them. They are, of course, where the voting goes on. But I have been there for years. For the last 3 yrs part of my daughter and my gifts to each other is the gifts that give. Each year I have given her a certificate from buying a stove.. well here it is. She varies what she gets me.

I have done rescue for years, and before I became a member of EBC and realized their support, I saw all breeders as adding to my rescue numbers. OF course, that is totally wrong thinking..but when you have more dogs than you can place, and not a good support system, it can make you ridged and bitter. I do know. I totally understand her and I tried to share with her how I went from where she is to where I am. I does take a village..it takes a breed club to open their hearts and wallets. It take a rescue to realize that breeders, good breeders keep the dogs we love healthy. Its a long learning process, and thank heavens I have lived long enough to get to this.

That is too cool!!! It is impossible to watch without smiling. (even though I found myself worrying for Bailey when he/she disappeared in the snow.) I think the dog is "Bailey the snow mole"! Thank you for sharing that morning smile with us. Pat

Nice. Katie was kind of put off when I told her I was going to name Zaire a Swahili name, but she came around when I explained to her what the name meant. Nyonda Zaire Usharifu "Beloved Nobility of Zaire" <g>She is proving not to be much of a talker to me, but oh boy does she chat with Charlie if she thinks he is ignoring her. :D</g>

@JazzysMom: …but God and Rielly showed her who is really in control -- he was born almost exactly 24 hours before the scheduled C-section! hee hee I told her, 'Welcome to parenthood. Now you know exactly how much control you have over your life. " hee Now that is funny!;)
