I am pretty sure you can't just look at a mix and declare what it is. Scientific studies have debunked that over and over. Best to do a DNA test, in my opinion. I have a mix who was advertised as a Basenji Mix, and her DNA results confirmed it. If you just looked at her and made a judgement, it would be mixed: her color was all askew, her tail was half-curled, she was smaller and featured more slender face and feet than a pure-bred B.
But, apparently, the 1/4 Min Pin (the ONLY other DNA in her sample) contributed some significant traits. Behavior and personality wise, Basenji rules the day. Again, I recommend a DNA test, and they improve by the day.
What is this other B identity thing that is mentioned in this thread? Is it also a DNA test, or something else?
Oh, and hey, your baby is way cute!
Roxy - Basenji x Border Collie (allegedly).

Yes, technically she barks, though it's not actually a bark, it's more of a mid range seal-like sound! In saying that, she makes all sorts of unusual noises when the fancy takes her!
She weighs 12 kilos.
That's Basenji size at 26lbs. My first was some kind of mix too. Large curly tail and thick fur. Never barked. Heck of a watch dog though. Very protective and tough. She minded really well! She was given to me at 6 months old and lived to be 17-1/2.

Wow, Dan. She is gorgeous and sounded like a fantastic dog. Very similar to Roxy in many ways, looks-wise. However, Roxy is one of the softest dogs I have ever met. She would lick burglers to death, not before requesting a tummy tickle!

Roxy is goegeous, what a great mix. I love her tail..she looks very friendly..

When I was moving from that very place in 1983 I told a friend to go over and have a look at the place and see if he wanted to take it over. The yard ran all the way around. When I saw him the next day I asked how he liked it and he said he couldn't get in the yard because of the dog. Good job Nipper!!

Hi-
I'm considering adapting a Basenji, Border Collie mix, but I really dont want a dog that sheds a lot. Can you telling me a little bit about what you're seeing in your dog, like what ccharacteristics from each breed you're seeing? Thanks
