Ask the breeder how big the sire and dam are. That's a good idea. My first basenji, who was a champion, weighed nearly 26 pounds when she matured. My 2nd one would have been about that, but thanks to steroids, we did good to keep her at 30. My current rescue is a giant. We won't go there. I first dreamed of a SMALL dog, maybe 15 pounds tops after years of being a BIG DOG person (rottweilers and chows). I don't see that ever happening.
New Camera … Wow !!

Is it just me, or does it seem that the basenjis not in the US are much better at getting their pictures taken. I tried to take some pictures at the park earlier today and Medjai wouldn't even look at me when I called for him to come.

Maybe too many distractions. Try in your yard.

Beautiful indeed!

That second shot says "why yes, of course I'm the best". That last shot says "Hmmm, I'm not sooo sure, let me think about that".

Thank you all for your nice comments !!!:D
Well, to be honest, I spend WEEKS looking for THE right camera for me… :o
NIKON, CANON, PENTAX, OLYMPUS, ??? they all have many great cameras.
My former camera was a Panasonic FZ18, a so called "bridge camera" because it fills the gap between PS (Point & Shoot cameras) and DSLR (reflex cameras). But the huge amount of noise in the pictures started irritating me ...
So this time I went for the dslr because of the better results under bad light conditions; it also had to be a camera with the highest continuous shooting mode possible.
And, lucky me, the one that pleased me most dropped HALF in price !!!
And, lucky me again, also the lens I liked most dropped MORE than half in price !!!
The camera is a "pro" : a NIKON D300 and the lens is a huge 70-300 mm !
I already can tell you : this is the REAL stuff (real stuff that I can afford I mean :p)
Here are some pics of the combo :As I already mentioned it's a steep learning curve and I'll need plenty of time to explore all the possibillities of the camera …

This made me laugh.. Tillo doesn't look either when I call him..gg.. The best pics are the pics when a dog isn't noticing the photographer, but just doing its 'thing'.. (leave that to a B )
