I hadn't seen this old thread before. It brings back memories! When I was in my twenties there was a sod farm with a water reservoir across from the place where I boarded my horses, and on hot days we would jump on bareback, with only halters and lead ropes for control (didn't want to get the bridles soaked), and ride over there for a swim. The pond was 15 feet deep in the middle, and we used to swim across it. Once the horses lost the bottom, the water would stream over their backs as they stretched their necks out to swim. We would grab fistfuls of mane and float alongside them, making sure to be in the right spot to slide back on as they hit the shallows and scrambled up the bank. Good times!

Your horses are very cute. Do you do any events with them?

LOL, I know this conversation is pretty much over but I had to jump in anyway. I too, think the new "designer breeds" are silly. They make cute mutts sometimes, like my precious "Chiweenie". I never knew there was a name for a Chihuahua/Dacshund mix/mutt until we got him from a ….. !surprise! shelter. :p

I do rescue, so I do like spay/neuter, but these folks who are breeding for aggressiveness won't pay any attention to any of the laws that are passed. However, putting them in jail should get their attention. Pits are a good dogs but can be bred into a fighting dog. Basenjis are now good breeds, but anyone who has done rescue, or owned a "damaged" basenji knows they will bite and that can do damage! We need to put the responsiblity on the bad owners who breed for fighting dogs or even the BAD breeders who breed defective dogs and know it, and sell them anyway. Puppy lemon law anyone??? That shouldn't hurt the good breeders who have "something" come up, but the breeders who consistantly have sick/bad dogs… Just a thought.
