  • Pat Thank you very much.

  • @Rita:

    Pat Thank you very much.

    Rita Jean

Your welcome, let us know what more you find out

  • I am emailing them back and forth I ask if they had the name of the parents so we could see if they had been tested. They did not know about any testing other than rabies and regular shots. Soon as I get the parents name I can look them up. They are comming through Kansas in a week or so and if parents check out could be they may have a home for therr little guy with us and Jaycee. Have to wait and see. Thank you again.

Good for you… but from the emails that they have sent me...they have way different ideas on responsible breeders... all that said if you decide to take this pup.. please get the DNA test done for him

  • Nice job Pat and Rita on trying to help this little guy.

  • Yes and do keep us informed of the outcome.

  • I am happy to say that Pat really helped me lots and thank you. With that said I am sad to say the little guy never been tested or the parents. Also strange with the birth mother date and the puppy's. I also looked up what I could on the breeder that did not look good either as you may all ready know. My heart really goes to the puppy but I did send them a email and tried to explain about tests and were to look and any questions gave them my phone number told her if I could not answer I would ask for help. I also ask her if they found they could not sell him and had to give him away to please call and we can get him to the B group not the pound. I ask that if he was sold to please give the new owners the information and to please tell them how important it is. I ask her to please do this so puppy hopefully will not get sick. Who knows but we can all hope. Thanks to all of you on here and all of the B hearts. This really made me sick I would have got the little guy but I do not want to get him and then get sick and this makes me just as bad I know because at least a home with love is better than none.

  • Someone from our local basenji group here in San Diego has contacted them - says they're asking $450 for him. Hasn't been able to get an answer as to why they're giving him up except he's "very playful". Um, would that be code for: tazmanian devil-like, young, smarter-than-his-owner basenji behavior?

Hope someone can make this have a happy ending.

  • They told me $500.00 but that was before my e-mail to them this afternoon. I hope this has a great ending also.

My thoughts too… and I too hope for a happy ending... and I hope they take to heart about Fanconi testing even if they don't do it themselves....

  • Without coming out and saying it, I'm getting that y'all have some info regarding the chances of Fanconi based on his lineage. We're encouraging anyone in our group to be aware of the risks and have him tested. Poor little guy.

Our Mickey gets pretty nippy when excited, too, and it was much more of a problem when he had those crazy sharp puppy teeth, but now at 1 yr old he responds pretty quickly to "gentle" and "kisses", "no bite" prompts. But when he gets too worked up I have to just walk away because his first instinct is to mouth & he doesn't seem to know his own strength. Someone mentioned winter activities - I would strongly suggest looking into getting a Varsity Ball (if you google it it should come up) - they are indestructible and big! Def for outdoor only. My guy likes to roll his around and try to stand on it - it's pretty funny. And it's almost the only time you'll hear him growl and bark - he gets so worked up with it that I have to put it away sometimes or else the neighbors will think he's vicious (he sounds it when playing with this thing!). BUT he comes in from outside panting and exhausted, so it's a nice alternative for him. I would caution, though, that bc the ball is really hard, he's knocked it into our rain spouts and caused them to fall down. So just be careful if you have anything outside that could get damaged.

OMG I would take the third one in a heartbeat, she looks adorable! Hopefully they can find their fur-ever homes.

Yes, I agree - you are all angels and I do hope that her story will encourage others. I know it would me if I had the opportunity.

Cody follows me when I initially go into another room, but if I'm not holding food or a toy, doing something he finds interesting, or if something else catches his attention, then he leaves. He used to be a complete and utter velcro dog. He wouldn't leave my side at all, and there were a few times when I almost stepped on him or tripped over him. I agree though, I don't think it is just Bs. Moe, our mix, does the same thing. I just think they are nosy.

I hope BRAT can intervene or someone with B experience (or willing to learn) can give her a good forever home. Craigslist can be iffy…she sounds so sweet. Hopefully someone will keep us updated...
