    I got to chat with Judge Nick today about the Wimama basenji pack. . He was the presiding judge at the Feb 11th hearing in Tampa, who granted custody to Hillsborough County Animal Shelter. Of course I thanked him for saving the basenjis, saying how wonderful that they would be turned over to BRAT. He spoke highly of BRAT, impressed that BRAT members were in attendance from not only Tampa but from around the country. Awesome !

    He did look like he had short legs but I thought his body was long for a Rat Terrier. I am so used to them having a docked tail and much more white on the body. I thought he may be a poorly bred Basenji. Mansfield is not too far away from the Amish area. I wonder if he barks much! Jennifer

    @BasenjiDiva: Wow, Vicki. Although we are down in Savannah, we also have a place up between Young Harris and Hiawassee. Maybe we could meet up sometime. Don't know how our little female hellion would do with your female though. Our male would probably be okay. Also would love to hear more about your petsitting business that you mentioned. When we are up there we would sometimes like to be able to leave for awhile without worrying about the beasties. I have two female Basenjis that are doing well together, but I, too, would be concerned about another female Basenji. Monday, I'm interviewing a retired older lady who pet sits and she will stay in the home all day and night, if needed. I need a dependable sitter, too. I often babysit for people who would like to go to dinner and get away w/o worrying about their pets. If I can't help you, I'm certain I can recommend several other dependable sitters.

Help support the rescue.:) :) :) @sharronhurlbut: Each year, BRAT sponsors a calendar photo contest. BRAT volunteers and adopters submit photos of their basenjis and the BRAT family then votes for their favorites. The winning photos are featured on a calendar which we sell to raise money to help rescue basenjis. Many of the dogs we rescue are featured on this calendar. This year, we had more than 400 entries. The voting for the 2007 calendar has just concluded and I am pleased to report that you can view the top fifty entries on our website at: http://www.basenjirescue.org/CalendarContest/default.asp After seeing these photos, we hope that you will order one of our calendars. The calendars are on glossy paper and are professionally printed.
